Graduate Academic & Student Affairs Assistant

The graduate assistant position in the USC School of Social Work’s Office of Academic & Student Affairs is an administrative position. Position Description: The graduate assistant position provides a great opportunity to gain experience in the field of Academic & Student Affairs. Throughout the year, the primary tasks include providing administrative support to staff, faculty and Deans while working collaboratively with the School and University’s Departments. The graduate assistant will maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, and staff and assist in all functions and events as they relate to the Office. Other general office responsibilities include: receiving visitors; answering telephones and providing information or referring calls; taking and delivering confidential documents; providing professional customer service and maintaining the Office of Academic & Student Affairs; scheduling appointment and maintaining calendar(s); processing incoming and outgoing mail and packages; sending and distributing faxes and campus mail; monitoring inventory and ordering unit supplies. This position is overseen by the Director of the Office of Academic & Student Affairs. Qualifications: The ideal candidate is a graduate student who is interested in the area of Academic & Student Affairs. Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to handle confidential student information in a professional manner. Candidate must be a self-starter who is organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet firm deadlines. Compensation: Compensation is based on previous experience. Candidate is required to work on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8am-5pm and be a recipient of Federal Work-Study. Start date: August 2012.
