Materials Needed
• • • • • Fabric. Fleece, Minky work well. Any thick material could work. Coordinating cotton. Or thin light weight fabric. 1/4” elastic Button Sewing machine and thread

1. Print out pattern PDF. Verify that the 1” and 4” test square are printed to correct size. The pattern is in a PDF with 12 pages on a grid with four columns and three rows.

2. Assemble pattern pieces. The pattern included 1/2” seam allowance for all pieces. Use 1/2" seam allowance unless otherwise noted.

3. Select pattern size and cut out paper pattern pieces. Cut out the back of cape by placing on fold.

4. For right and left cape fronts, cut one of the cape pattern piece printed side up and the other printed side down (reverse). Or Cut both hood pieces at once on folded fabric.

5. For the hood, cut pattern piece once printed side up and the reverse. Or Cut both hood pieces at once on folded fabric.

6. Assemble Hood. Place right sides together and sew along top of hood.

7. Hem Hood. Fold over at 1/2" inch and sew down.

8. Piece left and right front panels to back.

9. Finish Cape Bottom.

*I like to do a zig-zag or serged edge over a traditional hem for a more relaxed drape. If a thicker hem is desired, add in enough for choosen hem.

10. Fold over Left and Right front panel edges to fold line, fold wrong sides together. Sew close to edge 1/4”.

11. Find the center of the back of cape and match to center back of hood. Pin together. Baste stitch hood to cape.

12. Cut a 40" strip of fabric, 1 3/4" wide or 2" wide for the elastic casing. Fold the strip of fabric long ways. Butt the raw edge of the fabric strip o the top edge of the cape, over the Front/Right Side of cape. Sew down through all the layers. *I used left over binding from a previous quilt.

13. Get 1/4" elastic into casing. Carefully pin ends. Try cape on and adjust for drape around neck. Sew down at each end. Length of elastic for size Size 4, 18.5" Size 6, 20" Size 8, 21.5"

14. Button hole. Use machine specifications. Attach button with your favorite method.
