DOCTORAL PROGRAM

LETTER OF RESEARCH INTENT - GUIDELINES

The letter of research intent describes on a maximum of 2 pages (4 pages for people holding an academic position) the research you intend to undertake. The following points provide a guideline to write the proposal. They are by no means compulsory.

Describe your main areas of research if you hold an academic position. Describe your main competencies in your current job if you are not an academic. Describe the field (and/or sub-field) in which you intend to carry out your thesis writing (finance, marketing, HRM, strategy, organization behavior). Provide a brief description of the topic or question that you wish to develop. Why is this topic important? Is there enough potential to make a significant contribution? Will the topic still be of interest in four or five years? What are the hypotheses that you intend to test? Provide a short indicative bibliography and ideas of the research steps you may follow. Describe the methodology tools you intent to employ if you already have a precise idea about it. Would you keep on researching on some themes after obtaining your doctorate? If yes, which ones? For what purpose?
