ASSISTED FARM LIVING FOR ADULTS WITH AUTISM

&
TRACK-OUT & SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM
Future Location: Triangle Area of NC
The mission of 3 Irish Jewels Farm is to create an environmentally sustainable agricultural community where adults on the autism spectrum can live dignied and meaningful lives with support in a healthy, safe and enriching environment and achieve independence through meaningful work, recreation and community involvement. In addition to adults living on the farm, school-age children with autism will be able to attend trackout and summer programs so that they can also experience the farm life. We will also be getting the community involved in huge ways, such as providing volunteer opportunities, educational workshops and internships with the surrounding universities. We plan to provide a small farmers market, on-site store for the residents to sell their crafts, CSAs (Community Shared Agriculture) for individuals as well as restaurants who prefer to use local fare, hippotherapy (horse riding therapy for special needs), all sorts of animals from chickens to alpacas (for their wool), to horses to goats to rabbits. We are also contemplating the idea of opening up the farm property to the public on occasion for special events, such as weddings and parties as a source of additional revenue. We are a nonprot organization, still in its conceptual stages, with a committed board of directors and an innite amount of fabulous ideas swirling around in our collective minds. Our main goal right now is marketing and fundraising so that we may acquire the land that is needed for this amazing project that we have begun. We hope to acquire land soon and get the day programs up and running during Phase 1, as the need for this sort of program in our community is enormous.
