Working memory: also known as short-term memory is a concept coined by Alan Baddeley in 1986.

Its function is to hold and manipulate information temporarily, when the information is ready to be stored, the pieces of information go to the long-term memory. But there are some occasions where the information has some difficulties when new input or information appear, making the previous one disappear. Phonological short-term memory: As the previous concept of working memory, the phonological short-term memory is part of the process of learning and storage of information that will end at the long-term memory, but the main difference has to do with phonology. Also it has a determined time to make an impression of two seconds. When the phonological short-term has problems, creates new ones like having a limited amount of phonemes, which fade away before being stored, also we can find that the phonemes became distorted from the original at the moment of learning them, creating a barrier of knowledge. Problems with Reading Comprehension: Due to several factors, comprehension when reading can be broken because our brains are too busy with different procedures in order to do its best. When concentration and attention are failing among other factors like decoding information, being aware of the sentence structure and the ability to manipulate, retain and retrieve information, makes the process of reading longer texts more difficult.
