Yesterday afternoon we became aware of allegations that a verbal threat had emanated from one of our students who was outside of the building at lunch. The student was immediately apprehended by our staff and a complete investigation into the allegations ensued. The matter was reported to the police as is our standard protocol and according to Newsday, an arrest was made last night. Please be aware that this student is not in school and in addition to any charges that are pursued by the police, he also will be subject to penalties associated with the Code of Conduct. In matters like this, rumors associated with it typically begin to surface. We once again assure you that every threat is taken very seriously and any student or students who are guilty of such an action will be subject to the maximum penalties found in the Code of Conduct. We will continue to communicate with you regarding matters of this type and we assure you that we will continue to protect the health and safety of all of our students and staff .
