Port of Seattle Commission 2711 Alaskan Way Seattle, WA 98121 Dear Port of Seattle Commissioners: With the recent reports of the Port of Seattle CEO Tay Yoshitani joining the board of Expeditors International, a number of my constituents have expressed serious concerns about the potential for conflict of interest in a position of public trust. Given the complex nature of the port-related industries, the company could potentially engage in business with the Port, directly or indirectly. Although it has been reported that Mr. Yoshitani followed Port policy and cleared this decision with the Port’s general counsel, I believe that this decision needs more transparency and should be reviewed by the Port Commission in an open public meeting, in order to assure the public that no conflict of interest exists in this matter. Thank you for your time and consideration. Please give me a call if you would like to further discuss this issue. Sincerely,

Frank Chopp Speaker of the House
