FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE OUTREACH TEAM HITS THE STREETS TO INFORM BUSINESS COMMUNITY OF I-5/ORTEGA HIGHWAY INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT IRVINE – With construction for the I-5 / Ortega Highway Interchange Improvement Project slated to begin in early 2013, members of the project outreach team will visit San Juan Capistrano businesses in mid-September to inform them of construction impacts. Team members will be walking door-to-door to local businesses introducing the project, handing out informational materials and offering the opportunity to become part of the project’s email database to receive construction alerts and project updates. Caltrans will also hold a monthly Business Advisory meeting to provide project updates, answer questions and seek feedback. Beginning on November 5, these meetings will take place on the first Monday of every month at 9 a.m. at Hidden House Coffee (31791 Los Rios Street) courtesy of owner Ben Briggs. The I-5 / Ortega Highway Interchange Improvement Project, when completed, will provide congestion relief to improve local traffic flow as well as ease regional commutes. The project will also relieve the existing traffic chokepoint at the I-5 / Ortega Highway interchange and improve traffic safety for motorists. The project cost of $86 million is funded through various state and local sources.
