Definitions: Collisions per 100 Million vehicle-kilometers (MVK): Collisions/100MVK is an accepted traffic engineering method of comparing collision rates on various sections of highways. This ratio is determined by comparing the number of collisions on a section of highway to the number of vehicle kilometres travelled along the particular section. This process allows various sections of highways to be fairly compared to each other no matter the length or volume of traffic.
