Noun Verb Pairs Part 2

1. I have to remind myself to get some gas tomorrow. I need to drive to the airport to pick up the interpreter. She is flying in at noon tomorrow. It would be very embarrassing if my car ran out of gas on the way to pick her up. She is an important interpreter and I need to impress her!

2. Vanessa invited me to her mentoring club. The students in our class were also invited. The next mentoring club meet is next Friday but I am unable to go. I have another commitment as I have to work until 11:30 and the club meets ends at 10:00. I emailed her to let her know that I was not able. She suggested that I contact one of the students in class to pick up notes and wished me good luck in attending the next meeting.

3. I got a message on my Facebook wall that Alision’s car was having problems. I got her on Facebook chat and it seems that the car broke down just last Thursday and at first she thought it was the engine. When she took it to the mechanic, the mechanic said it was the transmission and that the repair would cost $1,200. She didn’t have the money so she tried to get a loan at the bank. The bank wasn’t overly excited to grant her a loan as she didn’t have enough credit. I decided to lend her my bicycle.

4. Last week Badr and Fahima worked late. They cleaned cabinets, got in the car, drove to the mall and went shopping, visited friends, and helped some of the movers at the mosque. They are in the process of moving offices from an office in Etobicoke to downtown Toronto. They decided to take a break on the weekend as they felt that they hit a wall. They just stayed home, watched some movies on Netflix and chatted with friends on Oovoo.

5. The Deaf Culture Centre is having a fundraiser tomorrow. We needed to go to Costco to buy drinks and food for the fundraiser. VIP’s in the Deaf community were attending. We needed some soda, and bottled water. We also needed to get cheese, crackers and hummus. Meat and bread was already bought but we thought it would be safe to buy more meat and bread. Can you get word out with Twitter and Facebook that we need help?

6. Can you push forward the meeting with the Ministry of Education? I can’t reach the ministry now as I need to recharge my HTC! I tried to reach Monique and ask her if she could do this. She hasn’t picked up her phone all day. Ask them if the meeting can be moved from the 8th to the 12th at the same time and place and that interpreters are also available on the 12th.

7. Casey liked to go to the airport and gaze at all of the planes lined up on the runway. They take off one after another and fly in all different directions. He loved to lie down on the hood of my car and just watch the planes roar overhead. Some would fly south to the USA; some would fly east toward Montreal. It’s just fun to watch him being so enthralled with the airplanes.

8. I just can’t wait until the week is over with! I had a flat tire on my bicycle. It was the rear tire. I got it fixed by a neighbor. The front tire got a flat on the very next day! I tried to ask my neighbor but she was out of town that day. I’ve had to take the TTC and I don’t like the TTC! It smells and it’s always crowded at Bloor and Yonge!

9. You got a new computer already!! What is it, a MAC or a PC? I wish I could get a computer now but I have to wait for the student loan to come in. Were you able to download Oovoo on it? Can I stop by your place tomorrow to call my parents? They have Oovoo and they use it every day to chat with Deaf friends so they know how to use technology.

10. My email just won’t work at all. I know my password and I have tried to use it and my email just won’t open. I give up. I’ll have to contact the IT people here and see what is wrong with my password. I wonder if it is the system, not my password. Do you know of anyone that has had the same problem?
