NEWS: BRYCE EXITS GCAP MEDIA PLC AS PURGE OF FORMER CAPITAL RADIO STAFF CONTINUES by GRANT GODDARD

www.grantgoddard.co.uk October 2005

Graham Bryce, managing director of GCap Media plc’s 'Xfm', 'Choice' and 'Capital Gold' brands, is leaving the company after more than ten years with its predecessor Capital Radio Group. A GCap spokesperson said: "Ralph Bernard has announced a restructure and a number of senior people have been affected by that. Graham is a valued member of staff, but he's going to go. I think he wants to go back to strategy." It is thought that a number of other staff will leave in the wake of Bryce’s departure. The changes come at a critical time for GCap, as Bryce was a key person in the imminent launch of Xfm in Manchester, GCap’s first new radio station since the merger. He is the fourth of six directors of new licensee Xfm Manchester Limited to have quit GCap in recent months, following the departures of David Mansfield, Paul Davies and Peter Harris, and leaves the company with only two directors, neither with radio sector experience. While former Capital Radio staff continue to exit the company en masse, the promotion of former GWR Group staff continues, with former programme director Dirk Anthony expected to take the post of GCap group programme director.
