Locations notes. Beginning of production will take place in Elliotts garden shed. This will be used as the antagonists (Brendan) supposed ‘hideout’ It’s dimly lit and looks secluded. The concrete floor makes it look un-homely and enhances the mystery of the character; suggesting that Brendan is on the run or hiding. There are no personal belongings of Brendan’s in the hideaway, the audience are not meant to know where he is coming from until later on in the full length feature.
The main production will take place in Kayleighs flat. The flat is in a fairly modern area and is not a block so it does not give that ‘gang’ life effect but instead an idea of a quiet community and safety. The flat is on the first floor which means there is only one escape route, making Lily -our protagonist- seem trapped in her own home when Brendan breaks in. The flat is full of family items which show that Lily’s life there is permanent and comfortable in contrast to Brendan’s living environment. Location choices: We chose these locations as they are both inside so no weather conditions will prevent filming. Both myself (Kayleigh) and Elliott are part of the media group which means these locations will never be unavailable for us if any extra filming in needed. The contrast of having two locations gives a sense of distance, which makes the film feel more realistic rather than just filming in one place.
Antagonist’s den. It’s dark and has a cold feel to it, representing Brendan’s personality.
The location where the opening sequence is being filmed. Quiet apartment block representing the starting calm equilibrium.
Stairways to the apartment which the protagonist sleeps in – watching the antagonist walk up the stairs will build suspense.
The apartment – number 33 – and entrance area, there is a lot of white connoting that the apartment is currently a pure area.
Protagonist’s bedroom – is small and secluded suggesting a safety zone in the house. Personal belongings such as paintings build character.
Basic living room; will be used as a walk through from the bedroom to kitchen, will also be used to show family life such as photos.
The kitchen where the antagonist will sit and pour his drink, this is also the room where the antagonist and protagonist will meet for the first time.
