First Grade News

October 15-19, 2012
What we’re learning Our Bible stories for this week are “The Huge Catch of Fish” and “Jesus Calls Matthew”. Our basal stories are “Fish Mix” and “How Many Fish?” We are focusing on short “i” words, the word family –ot, and contractions. In math we are adding 1 to a number, ordering numbers to 20, and working with pattern blocks. In writing workshop we are starting friendly letters. We are finishing up our unit on communities during social studies. Parachute and rhythm sticks are part of our learning this week as well.

Important Notes

October 19th at 7 p.m. is our fall musical performed by students in gr. 1-3 and an opening by JK and Kindergarteners! Come bring your family and friends to see “E-I-E-I Oops!” where the whole barnyard is singing but the cow won’t moo! Students participating in the musical will be receiving an important final note detailing rehearsals for this week. Please take note of date and times! Thank you! Grades 1-2 sing this Sunday, October 21st, at the 8:45 service! Please have your child come to the first grade classroom by 8:30 so we can run through our song together.
