Biographies
Paul Smith - Law Partner Jenner & Block in Washington DC.
Mr. Smith is Chair of the firm’s Appellate and Supreme Court Practice and a Co-Chair of the Media and First Amendment and Election Law and Redistricting Practices. He has had an active Supreme Court practice for nearly three decades, including oral arguments in fourteen Supreme Court cases including Lawrence v. Texas (2003), involving the constitutionality of the Texas sodomy statute. Mr. Smith also represents various clients in trial and appellate cases involving commercial and telecommunications issues, the First Amendment, intellectual property, antitrust, and redistricting and voting rights, among other areas. A member of the Board of Governors of the District of Columbia Bar from 2002-2008.

Rea Carey - Executive Director National Gay & Lesbian Task Force
Rea Carey is the executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and has over 20 years of experience in nonprofit start-up, fundraising, program oversight, boards of directors, management and leadership development. She has worked extensively in HIV/AIDS prevention for youth and young adults. Rea has also spent much of her career working with LGBTQ youth and young activists. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

Mr. Cathcart has led Lambda Legal for over 20 years. He is a leading strategist and spokesperson in the movement to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and people with HIV. He has made Lambda Legal an unparalleled national force through its far-reaching litigation and public education. Lambda Legal's groundbreaking work reached new heights in 2003 when it won a U.S. Supreme Court victory striking down Texas' "Homosexual Conduct" law and every law like it in the nation

Nadine Smith - Executive Director Equality Florida
Nadine Smith has been executive director of Equality Florida since its inception in 1997, and was executive director of its predecessor, the Human Rights Task Force of Florida. She served as one of four national co-chairs on the 1993 March on Washington and took part in the historic, first-ever meeting between LGBT leaders and a sitting U.S. president (Clinton) in the White House. She served on the founding board of the International Gay and Lesbian Youth Organization, a group that continues to serve as a resource for young people across the globe.

Chuck Wolfe - President and CEO Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Institute
Mr. Wolfe is the president and CEO of a national organization that helps outstanding LGBT leaders win elections and serve effectively. During his tenure as CEO, hundreds of openly LGBT candidates have been elected to public office, and the list of states with no out elected officials has dropped from 13 to none. Mr. Wolfe has an extensive background in politics, issue advocacy and organizational development. Mr. Wolfe entered the public sector as an appointee to the late Florida Governor Lawton Chiles as director of external affairs, director of tobacco control and executive director of the Miami Financial Oversight Board.
