District Democrat David Gill leads Republican Rodney Davis in Illinois’ 13th congressional district, and he is a favorite to win in November. Gill has pulled into a nine point lead (48% Gill / 39% Davis). David Gill holds a nine-point lead. • • Gill Leads Davis by nine points (48% Gill / 39% Davis). Gill’s lead is built on his strength with Independent voters, who he is winning by 10 points (41% Gill / 31% Davis).

This lead is a substantial improvement since September. • Since Gill has begun communicating positively to voters on broadcast television, his vote share has shot up. In our previous poll conducted September 18-20, the race was tied (41% Gill / 41% Davis). Gill has improved his vote share in both the St. Louis broadcast TV market (to 44% Gill / 38% Davis from 37% Gill / 40% Davis) and in the Champaign/Springfield/Decatur TV market (to 49% Gill / 41% Davis from 43% Gill / 43% Davis.

Anzalone Liszt Research conducted N=400 live telephone interviews with likely 2012 general election voters in Illinois’ 17th CD. Interviews were conducted between October 18-21, 2012. Respondents were selected at random, with interviews apportioned geographically based on past voter turnout. Expected margin of sampling error is ±4.9% with a 95% confidence level.
