Silence I am patiently waiting, taking advantage of the stillness The shimmering frost brings a covering of regal quietness The

air is fresh, the sky is clear, many stars are twinkling They look down upon me, reassuring, smiling, winking Such a sense of peace descends upon my freezing frame I am gladly whispering the Lord God’s precious holy name I’m seeking out the blessed silence of this special moment Welcoming the blanket of snow that from heaven is sent In solitude I listen, all nagging distractions are evaporating Lost in contemplation, this fleeting silence I am savouring Fr Patrick Brennan © 2010
