Angle Measure

An angle is a measure of rotation

A full rotation is 360 degrees.

A ray is part of a line that extends in one direction.

Two rays that share a vertex form an angle.

Angles are named by a point on one ray, the vertex, then a point on the other ray.

an angle can also be named with a number.

“angle BFL”, “angle LFB”, or “angle three”

A bisector is a line that splits an angle into two perfect halves.

If HFK is 50°, and FM is a bisector, what is the measure of KFM ?

Vocab to know: vertex: the point where two rays meet to form an angle. sides: the two rays that form an angle. opposite rays: two rays that go in opposite directions, forming an angle of 180°

180°

• Adjacent angles: angles that are next to each other.

• vertical angles: two angles that are opposite of each other when two lines intersect… 2 1 4 3

and are always equal to each other

• linear pair: two angles that are adjacent, and add up to 180°.

the two angles in a linear pair are “supplementary”
