The number of outages reported by LIPA every hour between 5 p.m. on Oct. 29 and 5 p.m. yesterday. The numbers, which represent the outages associated with electrical substations in the regions listed, come from the utility’s website and have been criticized by LIPA ratepayers who say outages in their area were reported to be considerably fewer than they knew to be the case. The City of Glen Cove is included in the Town of North Hempstead numbers, and Long Beach numbers were included in the count for the Town of Hempstead until Nov. 4, when they were dropped for a few days and then added back for the nor'easter. LIPA started excluding about 60,000 customers in Long Beach, Atlantic Beach and Fire Island, as well as on the Rockaway Peninsula, where homes were so badly damaged they could not take electric service.
