Project Overview
Project summary – give an overview of the project. (50 words) BCES has 15 iPads that teachers can use for instructional tasks. However, most classrooms have 22-26 students. Therefore, 15 iPads is not enough for every child to have one. The school hopes to complete

a collection of 30 iPads over the next year. If this is done, every student can have their individual iPad.

Value of project – Explain how the project adds value to the educational process. (100 words) Technology is a big part of today’s world. Students find technology integrated lessons more interesting. If each student had their own individual iPad, they would be more apt to pay attention instead of talking with a partner or group members about what the iPad can do. Technology is a wonderful thing and there are various instructional tasks teachers can use and educational games students can play. I hope to install NearPod on each iPad so that teachers can put up slideshows and students follow along and answer questions throughout the lecture and presentation. Also, for math, the students could use the iPad as a whiteboard and work out problems on it.

Number__________ Grant Recipients - What portion of the student population will be affected by the project? In what ways will the project affect the student body? (100 words) 100% of the student population will be affected because all teachers at our school have been trained on using iPads as instructional tools. Since the teachers know how to properly use and implement the iPads during instruction, the students will benefit even more. After a few uses by the students, they should catch on quickly with navigation of the iPad. The students will benefit from the lessons because they will be more involved and interested; therefore they should learn the content better. In turn, the students can use the iPads to create and share projects with the class and other students.

Goals – What are the goals and objectives for the students? What do you plan to achieve with the project? (100 words) The goal for the students is to be able to properly use an iPad during a technology integrated lesson in any subject area. If students have their own iPad, they can participate in presentations and answer questions on the iPad and the answers will show up on the teacher’s board on who chose what. With this project, I plan to allow students who may never get a chance to work on an iPad and learn using technology. Also, it will give them a chance to have fun playing educational games on them. The main goal of this project is to allow students to learn using technology.

Instructional Experiences - How will current instructional experiences be enhanced by the project? (100 words) Current instructional experiences at BCES are lecture and presentation style teaching. Also, some lessons are technology integrated when

able. All of the teachers have been trained on ideas and ways to use the iPad in the classroom. Therefore, they will plan units and lessons together and integrate iPads in when possible. The students will benefit more from more technology integrate instructional experience because they are of course more interested when technology or something “cool” like an iPad is involved. Current technology lessons can be made even better by each individual student having actual access to the technology instead of just coming up to the SmartBoard.

Benefits – What is the immediate and/or ongoing benefit this will provide students? (100 words) The immediate benefit for the students is the excitement it will cause in learning. I know the students will think using an iPad in the classroom will be amazing because my fellow teachers and I were in awe at the training about things we learned we could do with the iPad. It is a marvelous piece of technology that is capable of various instructional tools. The students can use this while the teacher gives a presentation, the students can use it to play educational games, and to work out problems and do various reading and note taking activities. Not only will this benefit them now, but in the future when they get to a higher grade or even out in the working world, technology is going to be a huge part and they will have had experience.
