Churches on Main Street Health Fair November 18, 2012 Sponsored by Hartford Hospital and the Omega Foundation

Hartford Hospital and the Omega Foundation of Hartford are sponsoring a health fair in collaboration with area churches located on Main Street in Hartford. The event: Churches on Main Street Health Fair will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2012 and will begin at 12:00 Noon following Sunday Morning services. Union Baptist Church, 1921 Main Street will be the host site for the event and the Hospitals digital mobile mammography coach will be on site in the Churchs parking lot. The Event will include mammograms, prostate screenings, colorectal cancer screenings, blood pressure screenings and a Ask the Doctor information session at 1:00 PM in the auditorium at Union Baptist Church. The Churches on Main Street Health Fair is open to the public. Screenings will be conducted by the medical staff at Hartford Hospital and are available at no cost to participants. Hartford Hospitals Mobile Mammography Coach will be on site from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM. Digital screening mammograms will be offered for women 40 years of age and older who have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months. Insurance is accepted and will be billed; please bring your insurance card if you have insurance. If a woman has no insurance, donated funds are available to pay for her mammogram. About the Event. The Churches on Main Street Health Fair is a part of the Take Charge of Your Health Series a comprehensive approach to addressing disparities in health for people who statistically suffer more relative to the general population from chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes, cancers and numerous other health challenges. The Project spearheaded by the Omega Foundation of Hartford (www.omegafoundationofhartford.org) in partnership with the Hartford Hospital (www.harthosp.org) involves periodic discussions, health fairs and health screenings to encourage participants to be informed and be responsible. The health fairs and symposiums which include medical experts from the Hospital are held at Hartford Hospital, community centers, churches and other locations throughout the year.
