ISSUE 16 November 2012 Dear LSR Member, Another fun-filled, productive week has flown by here at the Techmeetups headquarters. It may not by MI6, but we have had some pretty cool(and not so top secret) stuff going on. On a side note, Skyfall was amazing, and I suggest everyone go see it! Back to Techmeetups business.... What do remote control helicopters, Nerf guns, and sleep deprived techies all have in common? Sounds like a hackathon to me! Angelhack London was a raving success! Hosted in the impressive Bloomberg building, close to 250 hackers and 60 teams collaborated and hacked into the late hours of the night and early hours of the morning last weekend. There were some amazing products created during this hackathon, all which were presented in a lightning round, and the judges definitely had their work cut out for them. The winning team, titled "Penny" will be flown to Silicon Valley to compete in the Global Hackathon competition. If you missed out on this hackathon, never fear, Angelhack will be returning to London in May of 2013. Will you be there? We know Techmeetups will be! If you couldn't make it to our awesome hackathon, never fear, we have plenty more events coming up right around the corner! On 28 November, we will be hosting our Show Me The Money Masterclass. This class will feature beneficial information about all avenues of funding for your startup, as well as snacks and refreshments, and it shouldn't be missed! TODAY from 6pm-9pm we are hosting Want to Fast Track Your Startup? Start Building a Community! For those of you on the waiting list, we have just opened up another 20 seats, so be sure to check your status. We have expert speakers that will teach you how to build your community from the ground up, to create a successful startup "fan base." On 6 December, Techmeetups will be having our annual Xmas party, hosted by yours truly. I promise it will be a great night! I wanted to invite you to join us in celebration. Just bring your holiday spirit and be ready to party. We will provide the drinks, food, prizes, games, and networking! Our party will feature a snow machine, live music, hot cocoa bar(as well as beer and wine,) great catered food, a visit from Santa himself, fun photo ops, and an Ugly Christmas Jumper Competition. We have partnered with Community Links charity to collect toys for their toy drive to provide underprivileged children with gifts for the holidays. We ask that you bring a toy to the party, and in exchange you will receive raffle tickets for some of our amazing prizes! Attire is smart casual, with a bit of holiday cheer. Don't miss out on the fun! Great news! You can now ride in style at a discounted price! We have partnered with Uber, the groundbreaking, on-demand, luxury car service that is transforming personal transportation across the globe and recently launched in London. They have a fleet of amazing cars at the push of a button - Mercedes S Classes, Audi A8s, BMW 7 Series and Jaguar XJs - it all works exactly like having your own private driver.
