Introduction ***********
This work is not meant to be an end all discovery of Jesus. Instead it is a glimpse inside the lessons and insights he shared. No written record can truly do justice to the real time experience of finding God through one’s own personal experience, but when reading the words of Jesus one can learn information which may lead to the discovery of meanings and the incorporation of values into one’s soul. This project is an attempt to go back to the basics. When I found myself uncertain of the difference between what people were saying about Jesus and what Jesus actually said, I decided to explore his teachings on my own. After going to the New Testament, I realized that it wasn’t a simple task to just read what he said. Yes, there are the red letters which pointed out his words, but there is also a massive amount of other dialogue and writing to sift through. This may be good for the overall understanding of the Bible, but is not necessarily helpful for just reading about Jesus and his teachings. So I looked for a book of just his teachings. I thought in the history of the world someone would have put together this resource, but I couldn’t find it anywhere in a form that was easy for me to gain both the substance and context of what Jesus was saying without all the other dialogue. There were a few writers, but they either didn’t have context with his words, or they had their own commentary throughout, which defeated the purpose of my study. So I started my own resource by taking what Jesus said and putting it into a file with just enough context to know who he was speaking to and why. Hundreds of hours later it was completed and adapted to be a bit more modern in the English language usage. I also chose to not have it in chapter and verse form, so I could focus on the words. After spending the time looking through it, I realized there could be others in the world with a similar desire to read what Jesus said from the New Testament, so the result is this publication. Aside from this introduction, my thoughts and ideas about the information are set aside. I leave it to each person to be the interpreter of the information contained, and hope they will act accordingly, as they are inspired.

(Note - The statements of Jesus are indented in block quotes to help easily identify them, and are also in red in versions of this book which allow for colored text. I have also included enough information to put Jesus’ words into context and these parts are often summaries of information in the New Testament.)

I From the Gospel According to Matthew *****************
Jesus came from Galilee to be baptized by John. John tried to prevent him, but Jesus replied: “Permit it to be so now, for it becomes us to fulfill all righteousness.” **** The devil said to Jesus, "If you really are the Son of God turn these stones into loaves," and Jesus answered: “It is written, ‘Man will not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’” Then from a high place the devil said. "If you really are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for the scripture says, 'He will give his angels charge concerning you and in their hands they will bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.’" “It is written again, ‘You will not tempt the Lord your God.’” Then from a mountain top the devil showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their magnificence. "Everything there I will give you," he said to him, "if you will fall down and worship me." “Get you behind me, Satan, for it is written, ‘You will worship the Lord your God and him only will you serve.’” **** After John died, Jesus began to preach and to say: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” **** The two brothers, Simon (Peter) and Andrew, were fishing and Jesus said to them, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” ****

When Jesus saw vast crowds before him he went up the hillside and after he had sat down his disciples came to him. Then he began his teaching by saying to them: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they will obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they will be called the children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when men will revile you and persecute you and will say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, just as the prophets who were persecuted before you. “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its savor, with what will it be flavored? It is thereafter good for nothing except to be cast out and trodden under foot of men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but rather on a candlestick so it gives light to all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. “Think not that I have come to destroy the law or the prophets. I have not come to destroy, but to fulfill. Truthfully I tell you that until heaven and earth pass, not even one speck or spot will pass from the law until all is fulfilled. Anyone who breaks one of the least commandments and tempts others will be called the least in the kingdom of heaven, but anyone who follows the laws and teaches others will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the kingdom of heaven. “You have heard it said, ‘You will not kill,’ and ‘whosoever will kill will be in danger of judgment,’ but I say to you that whosoever is angry with his brother without cause will be in danger of judgment and whosoever calls his brother worthless will be in danger of the council, but whosoever calls his brother a fool will be in danger of hell fire. If you bring your gift to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, then leave your gift and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother and then come and offer your gift. “In the same way, reconcile with your adversaries quickly while you have the opportunity; lest your adversary deliver you to the court and the judge deliver you to the officer and you be cast into prison. You will not come out until you’ve paid your debt in full. “You have also heard it said that ‘you will not commit adultery,’ but I say to you that whosoever looks on a woman with lust has committed adultery in his heart. If your right eye offends you take it out and cast it from you, for it is better that one of your body parts should perish than for your whole body and soul to be lost. And if your right hand

offends you, then cut it off and cast it from you, for it is better that one of your body parts should perish than for your whole body and soul to be lost. “It has been said that anyone who would leave his wife should give her a notice of divorce. But I say that anyone who leaves his wife, except in the case of infidelity, causes her to commit adultery and if another divorced man marries her, then he commits adultery too. “Again, you have heard it said, ‘You will not swear falsely, but will perform your oaths to the Lord.’ But I say do not swear at all: neither by heaven for it is God's throne, nor by the earth for it is his footstool, neither by Jerusalem for it is the city of the great King, nor will you swear by your head because you cannot control even the color of your hair. Instead let your communication be clear, either a yes or no, for anything beyond this comes of evil. “You have heard it said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth,’ but I say to you, resist not evil. If someone strikes your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If any man sues you and takes away your coat, let him have your cloak also. If someone forces you to go with him a mile, then go with him two miles. Give to those that ask of you and don’t turn away from those who would borrow from you. “You have heard it said, ‘You will love your neighbor and hate your enemy,’ but I say to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you and pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you, so that you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. If you simply love those who love you, what reward do you have? Even the publicans do that. If you salute only your brothers, how would that be any more than others? Don’t the publicans do that also? Be you therefore perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. “Take heed that you don’t do your deeds before others to be seen by them, otherwise you have no reward of your Father who is in heaven. When you are doing your deeds, do not sound a trumpet as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so they may have glory of men. Truthfully I say they may have that reward. But when you are doing deeds, let not your left hand know what your right hand does, so your deeds may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret himself will reward you openly. “When you pray you will not be as the hypocrites are, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on street corners so they may be seen of men. Truthfully I say that is their reward. But when you pray, enter into your closet and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father in secret and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. “When you pray, use not vain repetitions as the heathen do, for they think they will be heard if they speak a lot. Be not like that, for your Father knows what things you need before you ask him. After this manner therefore pray you: Our Father who is in heaven,

Why do you behold the speck that is in your brother's eye. seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. for they sow not. and lead us not into temptation. and with whatever level you offer justice. Are you not much better than they? Which of you by thought can make yourself taller? And why take you thought for clothing? “Consider the lilies of the field. either he will hate the one and love the other. what you will eat or what you will drink. just as today does. “The light of the body is the eye. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory. there will your heart be also. nor gather into barns and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘How will we be clothed?’ for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. For with whatever level of judgment you offer. therefore. that darkness is formidable. you will receive that same measure. except to your Father in secret. will he not provide more for you? “Therefore take no thought. Amen. They toil not. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts. but . if God so clothes the grass of the field which exists today and is cast into the oven tomorrow. neither do they spin. Your kingdom come. Each day has its own troubles to solve. or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. your eye be sound.hallowed be your name. Truthfully I say they have that reward. that you be not judged. If. Instead. Take no thought for tomorrow today because tomorrow will require its own thoughts. but deliver us from evil. your whole body will be full of light. your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if you don’t forgive their trespasses. as it is in heaven. where moth and rust corrupt and where thieves break in and steal. anoint your head and wash your face so you appear not to be fasting. “For if you forgive men their trespasses. But when you fast. But if your eye be evil. “Do not store up treasures on earth. And yet I say even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. how they grow. You cannot serve God and worldly wealth. For where your treasure is. your whole body will be full of darkness. “Therefore I tell you to take no thought for your life. or for what you will put on your body. Lay up your treasures in heaven. where neither moth nor rust corrupts and where thieves do not break through or steal. for they disfigure their faces so they may appear to men to fast. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Behold the birds of the air. and your Father will reward you openly. your will be done in earth. forever. “Judge not. They neither reap. as we forgive our debtors. “No man can serve two masters. you will be judged accordingly. “Moreover when you fast be not as the hypocrites who appear sad. If therefore the light that is in you be darkness. and all these things will be added to you. saying. neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Therefore.

’ “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them. And the rain descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house and it fell and the fall was great. “Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing. Do men gather grapes from thorns. how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him? “Therefore do to others all those things you wish others would do to you.consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother. "I know you can make me clean if you want to. seek and you will find. being imperfect. “Give not that which is holy to the dogs. lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and tear at you. or would give him a serpent if he asks for fish? If you. have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works?’ I will say to them. Lord. The gate and the way are narrow on the path which leads to life and fewer go that way. “Not everyone who says to me.’ and not recognize a beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite. ‘Lord. but it did not fall. but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. for it was founded upon a rock.” **** A leper came and knelt in front of Jesus. Everyone who hears these sayings of mine and does them not. for the gate is wide on the path to destruction and the way is broad and many choose to go that way. know how to give good gifts to your children. Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit will be taken down and cast into the fire. Lord. and he who seeks finds. For everyone who asks receives. And the rain descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house. “Enter at the narrow gate. or figs from thistles? Every good tree brings forth good fruit. ‘I never knew you. Depart from me. “Ask and it will be given you. ‘Lord. you that work iniquity. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit. but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. and to him who knocks. What man would give a stone to a son who asks for bread. Neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit." Jesus then placed his hand on the leper saying: . knock and it will be opened to you. I will liken him to a wise man who built his house upon a rock. neither cast your pearls before swine. Many will say to me in that day. Therefore by their fruits you will know them. will be likened to a foolish man who built his house upon the sand. the door will be opened. first cast the beam out of your own eye and then you can see clearly to cast the speck out of your brother's eye. but inwardly they are like ravening wolves.’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven. ‘Let me pull the speck out of your eye. for this is the law and the prophets. You will know them by their fruits.

Jesus met some people who brought him a paralyzed man lying flat on his bed. my servant is at my home. I will follow you wherever you go. Be clean. paralyzed and in dreadful pain.” **** A scribe came to Jesus and said.” **** Crossing the lake." "I will come and heal him. "Lord." Jesus responded: “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests.” Then Jesus said to the centurion: “Go your way. and let the dead bury their dead. When Jesus saw their faith he said to the man: “Son.” **** In Capernaum. "Master. Since you believe.” A disciple said. I'm not important enough for you to come to my home.” . a centurion soldier approached Jesus. go and show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded as a testimony to them.“I want to.” And with that Jesus said to those around him: “Truthfully I say I have not found greater faith anywhere in Israel. but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head. Your sins are forgiven. Many will come from the east and west and will sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. “See that you tell no one. it will be done. but the children of the kingdom will be cast out into darkness and there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” to which Jesus replied: “Follow me. be of good cheer. "Sir." "Sir.” And instantly he was healed. Just give the order and my servant will recover. let me first go and bury my father.

Go and learn what that means. but the sick do. “Daughter. I will have mercy and not sacrifice. "This man is blaspheming.” And the man got up and went home. ‘Arise and walk?’ But so you may know the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins.” But Jesus realized what they were thinking and said: “Why think evil in your hearts? For which is easier to say. for the bottles may break causing the wine to run out and the bottles to perish. “Arise. take up your bed. Your faith has made you whole. Some of the scribes who witnessed this thought. Later. and go home." Matthew got to his feet and followed. No man puts a piece of new cloth into an old garment. The Pharisees said to the disciples. be of good comfort.” Jesus turned his attention to the paralyzed man. ‘Your sins be forgiven you.” . "Why is it that we and the Pharisees observe the fasts. **** Jesus passed a man named Matthew working in the tax-collector's office and said: "Follow me. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles. for that which is added takes from the garment and the tear is made worse. both are preserved.” **** John's disciples approached Jesus. but rather sinners to repentance. But if they put new wine into new bottles. at dinner. "Why does your master have his meals with tax-collectors and sinners?" But Jesus heard this and replied: “Those who are whole do not need a physician. a good many tax-collectors and other disreputable people came and joined Jesus and his disciples.” **** A woman with a hemorrhage approached Jesus from behind and touched the edge of his cloak. for I have not come to call the righteous. It is like children sitting in the markets and calling to their fellows and saying.’ “Truthfully I say that among those who are born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist.’ And the Son of man came eating and drinking and they say. Those who have ears to hear. But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes. we have mourned for you and you have not grieved. for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in places like Tyre and Sidon they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.**** John the Baptist was in prison and sent a message to Jesus. ‘Behold. who will prepare your way before you. O Father. I say. notwithstanding that the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. but have revealed them to babes.” As John's disciples were leaving. If you are capable of understanding it. as all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. For John is he. Jesus began talking to the crowd about John: “What did you go into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? What did you go out there for? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold. So it seemed good in . asking the question. But I say it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment. those who wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. will be brought down to hell. “I thank you.

If I cast out devils on Beelzebub’s .your sight. all you who labor and are burdened. you see. how they entered into the house of God and ate the showbread. would not grab hold and lift it out? How much more is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath. The Pharisees asked. and I will give you rest. But if you knew what this means – ‘I will have mercy and not sacrifice’-. All things are delivered to me by my Father and no man knows the Son. For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day. the prince of devils. Neither does anyone know the Father." Jesus knew what they were thinking and said: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. upon hearing of it. if you had one sheep fall into a pit on the Sabbath day. They said to Jesus. "Is it right to heal anyone on the Sabbath day?" which was against the law.” **** Then Jesus went into their synagogue. **** When a devil-possessed man was healed by Jesus. "There.” **** One day the Pharisees saw the disciples picking food on the Sabbath and eating the food. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me. the Pharisees. but the Son and those the Son will reveal him to. but the Father. for I am meek and lowly in heart and you will find rest in your souls. which was not lawful for them to eat. “Come to me.you would not condemn the guiltless. but only for the priests? Or have you not read in the law that on Sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are blameless? But I tell you that here in this place is one greater than the temple.

But Jesus replied: “Who is my mother and who are my brothers?” And with a gesture of his hand towards his disciples he went on. one greater than Solomon is here. so will the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. for by your words you will be justified or condemned.” While Jesus was talking to the crowds. but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. a crowd collected around Jesus. his mother and his brothers came to speak to him. being evil. but those who speak against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven either in this world or the world to come. we want to see a sign from you. unless he had first bound the strong man? He who is not with me is against me and he who does not work with me works abroad. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things and an evil man brings forth evil things. for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon. “Behold my mother and my brothers. one greater than Jonas is here. The men of Nineveh will rise in judgment with this generation and will condemn it because they repented at the preaching of Jonas. As Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly.behalf. then the kingdom of God has come to you.” **** Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said." Jesus told them: “An evil and adulterous generation seeks signs. but none will be given except the sign of the prophet Jonas. for the tree is known by its fruit. by whom do your children cast them out? But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God. Therefore I say all manner of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven.

some seeds fell by the wayside and the fowls came and devoured them up. "Why do you talk to them in parables?" “Because you desire to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. When the wheat sprung up and brought forth fruit. some sixtyfold. Those who have ears to hear. but when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word they get offended. sometimes thirty. These are they who receive seed off the side. ‘Sir. and your ears. for they see. but for those who don’t. Those who receive seed among the thorns are those who hear the word. sometimes sixty. Those who receive the seed into stony places are those who hear the word and quickly with joy receive it. let them hear. which also bears fruit and brings it forth. ‘By hearing you will hear and will not understand. “The kingdom of heaven can be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. and seeing you will see and will not perceive. and to hear those things which you hear and have not heard them. a sower went forth to sow seeds and when he sowed. but not all desire this. his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went his way. ‘Do you want us to go and gather them up?’ But he said. then appeared the weeds also. and hear with the ears of the flesh hear not. for they hear. you might root up the wheat with them. sometimes a hundredfold. Let both grow together until the harvest and then I will tell the reapers to gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to burn them. and then to gather the wheat into my barn. Therefore I speak in parables because those who see with the eyes of the flesh see not. Some fell upon stony places. But other seeds fell into good ground and brought forth fruit.“Behold. but the cares of this world and lure of riches choke the word and they become unfruitful. even that which they have is taken away. Truthfully I say that many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which you see and have not seen them. “But blessed are your eyes. they withered away.’ The hearts of many people have grown gross and their ears are dull of hearing and their eyes have closed because they don’t want to know and be converted and healed. But those who receive seed into the good ground are those who hear the word and understand it. “Hear you therefore the parable of the sower. which says.’ The servants replied. did you not sow good seed in your field? From where do the weeds come? He said to them. some thirtyfold. Some seeds fell among thorns and the thorns sprung up and choked them. ‘No. When the sun was up. They last for a while. For those who have. some a hundredfold. where they had not much earth and they sprung upward because they had no deepness of earth. but fails to understand it. but they have not roots. While you gather up the weeds. But while men slept.’ . nor do they understand. more is given and they will have more abundance. ‘An enemy has done this. When anyone hears the word of the kingdom. and because they had no root.” At this the disciples approached him and asked. then the wicked one comes and takes what was sown in their heart. they were scorched. In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah. So the servants of the household came and said.

"Please explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field. the kingdom of heaven can be compared to a treasure hid in a field. The Son of man will send forth his angels and they will gather out of his kingdom all things that offend and those who do iniquity. until the whole was leavened. so that birds come and lodge in the branches of it. "Why do your disciples break our ancient tradition and eat their food without washing their hands properly?" . “The kingdom of heaven can also be compared to a merchant seeking good pearls. “And the kingdom of heaven can also be compared to a net that was cast into the sea and gathered of every kind of thing. Indeed it is the least of all seeds. The enemy who sowed them is the devil. which a man took and sowed in his field. but when grown it is the greatest among herbs and becomes a tree. So will it be at the end of the world: the angels will come forth and sever the wicked from among the just and will cast them into the furnace of fire where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. so will it be at the end of this world. The field is the world. “Have you understood all these things?” "Yes." “He who sows the good seed is the Son of man. When the net was full they drew it to shore and sat down and gathered the good into vessels. which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal.” **** Some of the scribes and Pharisees from Jerusalem came and asked Jesus." they replied.” **** Later his disciples came and said. he hides it and for the joy of it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. “Again. The harvest is the end of the world and the reapers are the angels. which when a man has found it. Whoever has ears to hear. “Therefore every scribe who is instructed about the kingdom of heaven can be compared to a property owner who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old. who. but the weeds are the children of the wicked one. when he finds one pearl of great price. goes and sells all he has and buys it. let them hear. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. As the weeds are gathered and burned in the fire. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven. and they will be cast into a furnace of fire where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. but cast the bad away.“The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed. The good seeds are the children of the kingdom.

"Do you know that the Pharisees are deeply offended by what you said?" “Any plant not planted by my heavenly Father will be rooted up. You may have what you will.” **** A Canaanite woman came to Jesus crying. "Lord. In doing this you have neutralized the commandment of God by your tradition. and then do not honor their father or mother. adulteries.” "Yes." she said. but to eat with unwashed hands does not. For God commanded. It is not that which goes into the mouth. “You hypocrites. A devil has possessed her.

"Simon. you can discern the face of the sky.” But they were arguing with each other about forgetting to bring bread. “You of little faith." they told him. but he replied: “When it is evening. but rather that you should beware of the Pharisees and the Sadducees and what they offer?” **** In Caesarea-Philippi Jesus asked his disciples: “Who do men say that I am?” "Well. And in the morning. but can’t you discern the signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeks signs and none will be given to it. for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you. but my Father who is in heaven.” Then his disciples came to Jesus. for the sky is red. and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets. you say it will be fair weather." “But who say you that I am?” Simon Peter answered. son of Jonah. You are an offense to me. that the scribes always say Elijah must come first?" “Elijah truly will come first and restore all things. you could say to this mountain. I brought him to your disciples but they couldn't cure him.” **** The disciples asked. "God bless you.” **** When they arrived at Capernaum the temple tax collectors said to Peter. for you savor not the things of God.Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he would have to go to Jerusalem and endure much suffering. ." “O faithless and perverse generation. Truthfully I say that some are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. "Your master doesn't pay temple tax. but those of men. "Who is really greatest in the kingdom of Heaven?" Jesus called a little child to his side. but woe to any man by whom the offense comes. for I say to you that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven. Take that and give it to them for me and you. then take with you one or two more. It is better to have one eye than to have two eyes and be lost. rather than to be cast into damnation. Then if he will neglect to hear them. go you to the sea and cast a hook and take up the fish that first comes up and when you have opened his mouth. you have gained your brother back. “When his fellow servants saw what was done. let not man put asunder. but went and cast him into prison until he paid the debt.agree on earth to bless anything asked of you then it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven.’ And he would not. they were very sorry and came and told their lord what had happened. there am I in the midst of them. "Master. the Pharisees asked.’ Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion and freed him and forgave him the debt. because of the hardness of your hearts. For the kingdom of heaven can be likened to a certain king who would take account of his servants. but from the beginning it was not so. ‘Oh you wicked servant." **** Testing Jesus. but one flesh. ‘Lord.unless it . saying. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant. Then this lord called the man back and said. have patience with me and I will pay you all.

be for fornication -- commits adultery if he marries another, and whoever marries the one who has been put away commits adultery also.” **** Some little children were brought to Jesus so that he could put his hands on them and pray for them. The disciples frowned on the parents' action but Jesus said: "Permit little children to come to me, and forbid them not, for such is of the kingdom of heaven." Then he laid his hands on them and went on his way. **** A man came up to Jesus and said, "Good Master, what should I do to secure eternal life?" "Why do you call me good? There is none good but one and that is God, but if you will enter into eternal life then keep the commandments." "Which ones?" “You will do no murder. You will not commit adultery. You will not steal. You will not bear false witness. Honor your father and your mother. And you will love your neighbor as yourself." "I have carefully kept all these," returned the young man. "What is still missing in my life?" "If you will be perfect, go and sell what you have and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven, then come and follow me." When the young man heard that, he turned away crestfallen, for he was very wealthy. Then Jesus remarked to his disciples: "Truthfully I say to you, that a rich man will hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." The disciples said, "Then who can possibly be saved?" "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." Peter exclaimed, "Look, we have left everything and followed you. What is that going to be worth to us?"

"Truthfully I say to you who have followed me, when the Son of man will sit in the throne of his glory, you also will sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that has forsaken houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit everlasting life. But many that are first will be last at that time and the last will be first. "For the kingdom of heaven can be compared to a property owner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. When he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace and said to them, ‘Go you also into the vineyard and whatsoever is right I will give you.’ And they went their way. Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle and says to them, ‘Why stand you here idle all day?’ and they say to him, ‘Because no man has hired us.’ He says to them, ‘Go you also into the vineyard and you will receive whatsoever is right.’ “So when evening had come, the lord of the vineyard told his steward, ‘Call the laborers and give them their hire, beginning from the last to the first.’ When the eleventh hour workers came they each received a denarius. And when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more, but they likewise each received a denarius. When they had received it, they murmured against the good man of the house, saying, ‘These last have worked but one hour and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden and heat of the day.’ But he answered one of them and said, ‘Friend, I do you no wrong. Did you not agree to work for a denarius? Take that which is yours and go your way. I will give to the last just as I give to you. Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own? Is your eye evil because I am good?’ So will the last be first and the first last, for many are called, but few chosen." **** As he was about to go up to Jerusalem, Jesus took the twelve disciples aside and spoke to them as they walked along. "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem and the Son of man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death and will deliver him to the Gentiles to mock and to whip and to crucify him, and the third day he will rise again." At this point the mother of the sons of Zebedee arrived with her sons to ask Jesus a favor. Jesus said to her: "What is it you want?" "Please say that these two sons of mine may sit one on each side of you when you are king!" Jesus said to the sons:

"You know not what you ask. Are you able to drink of the cup that I will drink of and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" "Yes, we can," they answered. "You will, indeed, drink of my cup and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with, but to sit on my right hand and on my left is not mine to give, but it will be given to them for whom it is prepared by my Father." When the other ten heard of this incident they were highly indignant with the two brothers. But Jesus said to them: "You know the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over their people and those who are great exercise authority upon their people. But it will not be so among you. Whoever would be great among you, let him be your minister. Whoever would be chief among you, let him be your servant, just as the Son of man came not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life as a ransom for many." **** As they approached Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples ahead telling them: "Go into the village next to you and you will find a donkey tied and a colt with her. Bring them to me. And if any man says anything to you, you should say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them." **** Jesus went into the Temple and after disrupting the merchants and money changers, he cried: "It is written, ‘My house will be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves.'" In the Temple the blind and the lame came to Jesus and he healed them. The chief priests and the scribes were indignant hearing children shouting in the Temple, "God save the Son of David.” "Can't you hear what these children are saying?" they asked Jesus. "Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes you have perfected praise?’" **** Jesus saw a fig-tree growing by the side of the road that had nothing on it but leaves, and said: "Let no fruit grow on you ever again."

All at once the fig-tree withered away. The disciples said, "How on earth did the fig-tree wither away quite suddenly like that?" "If you have faith and doubt not, you will not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if you should say to this mountain, ‘Be you moved and cast into the sea,’ it will be done. All things whatsoever you will ask in believing prayer, you will receive." **** When Jesus was teaching in the Temple, the chief priests and Jewish elders said, "What authority have you for what you're doing and who gave you that authority?" "I also will ask you one thing, and if you tell me, then I will likewise tell you by what authority I do these things. The baptism of John, was it from heaven or from men?" Fearing either response, they answered Jesus, "We do not know." "Then neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things. What think you of this story? A certain man had two sons and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in my vineyard.’ The son answered and said, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he repented and went. The man then came to the second son and said likewise, and the son answered, ‘I go now, sir,’ and then did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?" "The second one," they replied. "Truthfully I say that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you, for John came to you with righteousness and you believed him not, but the publicans and the harlots believed him. And you, when you had seen it, repented not afterward, that you might believe him." **** "Hear another parable. There was a certain householder who planted a vineyard and put a hedge around it and dug a winepress and built a tower and lent it out to husbandmen and went into a far country. When the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. And the husbandmen took his servants and beat one and killed another and stoned another. Again, he sent other servants more than the first, and they did likewise to them. But last of all he sent to them his son, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and let us seize his inheritance.’ And they caught him and cast him out of the vineyard and slew him. When the lord of the vineyard comes to them, what will he do to those husbandmen?" "He will kill those scoundrels without mercy and will lend the vineyard out to other tenants who will give him the produce at the right season."

"Did you never read in the scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected, the same will become the head of the corner. This is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes?' "Therefore I say the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it. And whoever will fall on this stone will be broken, but on whoever the stone will fall, it will grind him to powder. "The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who made a marriage for his son and sent forth his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding. But they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants, telling them to say, ‘Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My oxen and my fatlings are killed and all things are ready. Come to the marriage.’ But those who were invited made light of it and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise, and the remnant took his servants and treated them spitefully and slew them. When the king heard of it, he was very angry, and he sent forth his armies and destroyed those murderers and burned up their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. Go you therefore into the highways and as many as you will find, invite them to the marriage.’ So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good, and the wedding was furnished with guests. “And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who did not have on a wedding garment. And he says to him, ‘Friend, how came you in here not having a wedding garment?’ And the man was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and take him away and cast him into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ For many are called, but few are chosen." **** The Pharisees wanted to trap Jesus in an argument, so they sent someone to him asking, "Master, we know that you are an honest man who teaches the way of God faithfully and that you don't care for human approval. Now tell us - 'is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?’" "Why tempt me, you hypocrites? Show me the tribute money." They handed him a coin and he said to them: "Whose is this image and superscription?" "Caesar's," they said. "Then render to Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's." ****

And in places that do not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.” **** Jesus spoke to them all. "If any man will follow me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever will save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake will be saved. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? But I tell you the truth that some standing here now will not die until they see the kingdom of God.” **** An argument arose among the apostles as to who should be the greatest and Jesus took a little child and made him stand by his side. And into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be upon this house.’ And if the son of peace is there then your peace will rest upon it. If not then you will know. Remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give, for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Do not move from house to house. And into whatever city receives you, eat such things as are set before you. One of the experts in the Law stood up to test him and said, "Master, what must I do to be sure of eternal life?" "What is written in the law? How do you read it?" "The Law says, 'You will love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.’" "You have answered right. Do this and you shall live." "But who is my 'neighbor?’" "A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among thieves who stripped him of his clothing and wounded him and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance a certain priest came that way, but when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on the wounded man and then passed by on the other side. “But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came upon the man and had compassion for him and went to him and nursed his wounds, pouring in oil and wine. But what I am offering is essential and Mary has chosen to partake of that, so it will not be taken away from her." **** One of the disciples said to Jesus one day, "Teach us how to pray, as John used to teach his disciples."

"When you pray, you can say it like this: ‘Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread and forgive us our sins just as we forgive those who are indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'" And then he said to the disciples, "Which of you has a friend and would go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves because a friend of mine in his journey has come to me and I have nothing to set before him?’ And the friend will answer and say, ‘Trouble me not; the door is now shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot rise and give it to you.’ Although he will not rise and give it out of friendship, because of the man’s pestering, he will rise and give the friend as many as he needs. “And I say, ‘Ask and it will be given you. How can Satan cast out Satan? “And if I, by Beelzebub, cast out devils, then by whom do your sons cast them out? They will be your judges. "Take heed so you are not deceived. for all live to him. he should marry the widow and raise up a family for his brother. neither marry. for many will come in my name. but of the living. But those who will be accounted worthy to obtain heaven and resurrection from the dead. Fearful . How then can the Lord be David’s son?" **** Jesus saw the rich dropping their gifts into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow drop in two coppers and he commented: "I say to you that this poor widow has cast in more than all of them. Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom and great earthquakes will be in diverse places and famines and disease. when Jesus said. but the end is not yet near." "Master. “Now Moses showed at the bush that the dead are raised when he called the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. for he is not a God of the dead." **** Some were talking about the Temple and pointing out the beauty of its lovely stonework and the various ornaments that people had given. "Master. until I make your enemies your footstool. The Sadducees asked Jesus. but Jesus went on to say.’ David therefore calls him Lord. being the children of the resurrection.’ Don’t go after them. for they are equal to the angels and are the children of God. 'If a man's brother should die without any children. only to die leaving her no children? Who would she belong to in the resurrection? "The children of this world marry and are given in marriage.' What if each of seven brothers should marry her. the days will come when not one stone will be left that hasn’t been thrown down. for these things must come to pass. "How do people say that Christ is David's son? David himself said in the book of Psalms that the LORD said unto my Lord. nor are given in marriage. Moses told us in the scripture. ‘I am Christ and the time draws near. ‘Sit thou on my right hand." Nobody had the courage to ask him any more questions. “When you hear of wars and commotions don’t be terrified. And they will fall by the edge of the sword and will be led away captive into all nations and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles until the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled. Heaven and earth will pass away. bringing you before kings and rulers for my name's sake. and nations distressed upon the earth with perplexity. causing some of you to be put to death. Men's hearts will fail them in fear of those things which are coming on the earth and the powers of heaven will be shaken. that all things which are written may be fulfilled." **** . look up and lift up your heads. for I will give you wisdom in your voice which all your adversaries will not be able to deny. "Behold the fig tree and all the trees. For these be the days of vengeance. and the cares of this life that this time comes upon you when you are unaware. they will persecute you. for there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon the people. “Then let those in Judea flee to the mountains and let those in the midst of it depart and don’t let those outside enter therein. unless your hearts become so overloaded with overindulgence. And you will be hated by all men for my name's sake. drunkenness. “Truly I say that this generation will not pass away until all is fulfilled. Watch you therefore and pray always. that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass and to stand before the Son of man. “And take heed. But not a hair on your head will perish. In your patience. possess you your souls. like the sea and the waves roaring. but my words will not pass away. Settle in your hearts not to meditate upon what you will answer. “And then will they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory." Then he gave them a parable. And when these things begin to come to pass. “Woe to those who are with child and who nurse in those days. For like a trap it will it come on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. for your redemption draws near. you see and know that summer is now at hand.sights and great signs will come from the heavens. So likewise when you see these things coming to pass. “And you will be betrayed both by parents and brethren and kinsfolk and friends. delivering you up to synagogues and prisons. When they grow. and when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies. “And there will be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars. And it will turn to you for a testimony.

the Son of man will leave as it was determined. Then the day of sacrificing the Passover lamb arrived and Jesus told Peter and John: "Go and prepare for us the Passover." So they went off and made the Passover preparations and when the time came. For who is greater? He who sits at meat. for I say to you that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God will come." "Where would you like us to do this?" “When you enter the city a man will meet you bearing a pitcher of water. but Jesus said: "The kings of the Gentiles exercises lordship over them and they who exercise authority are called benefactors. Behold. that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. my blood. for I say to you that I will not eat again until these things are fulfilled in the kingdom of God." Taking a cup from them he thanked God and said. so that we may eat. And truly. let him serve. the hand of he who betrays me is with me on the table. Follow him into the house where he enters. There make ready. “You have gone with me in all my temptations. but woe to that man who betrays him. He who is greatest among you. and I appoint to you a kingdom. or the one who serves? Is it not he who sits at meat? And yet I am among you as he who serves. "I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. he took his seat at table with the apostles and spoke to them. and he who is chief. ‘Where is the guest chamber where I will eat the Passover with my disciples?’ And he will show you a large upper room. which is shed for you." Then he took a loaf and after thanking God he broke it and gave it to them. "This is my body which is given for you. Take this in remembrance of me. . let him be as the least. And you will tell the good man of the house that the Master says. "This cup is the new covenant. But you will not be like this." After supper he again gave them a cup with the words. as my Father has appointed it to me. "Take this and divide it among yourselves." The apostles began to debate who among them could do this thing and then resorted into who among them should be considered the most important.

I am ready to go to prison or even to die with you!" "I tell you. if you are willing. cutting off his right ear. or even shoes. "Lord. as he prayed intensely. not my will. do you betray the Son of man with a kiss?" The disciples. "Pray that you enter not into temptation. But Jesus called for their restraint. Peter. before you deny three times that you know me. "But now. . led by Judas. For I say to you that the scripture must yet be accomplished that says. "Judas. the cock will not crow this day. ‘and he was reckoned among the transgressors. let him take it and his credit. not a thing. but yours be done. he fell on his knees." Simon Peter said." **** A crowd of people arrived. seeing what was going to happen. "Lord. "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray. he who has a purse. but I have prayed for you that you faith does not fail. Then he got to his feet. cried. let him sell his garment and buy one. he said to them." they replied." Then he told all. with the disciples following him. who stepped up to Jesus to kiss him. lest you enter into temptation. "Father. and when you are converted. strengthening him.“Simon look. will we use our swords?" One of them did slash at the High Priest's servant. Satan has desired to have you so he may sift you as wheat. credit. and he who has no sword.’ For the things concerning me shall be fulfilled." An angel from Heaven appeared. finding the disciples sleeping. Nevertheless. remove this cup from me." Then off by himself. "When I sent you out without purse. When they arrived. strengthen your brethren." **** Jesus went up on to the Mount of Olives. did you lack for anything?" "No.

“Please, continue this burden with me." And he touched the servant’s ear and healed him. Then he spoke to those there to arrest him, "Have you come, as to catch a thief, with swords and weapons? When I was with you in the temple, you didn’t stretch a hand against me, but this is your hour and the power of darkness." **** After marching Jesus off to council, they asked him, "If you really are Christ, tell us!" "If I tell you, you will not believe, and if I also ask you, you will not answer me, nor let me go. Hereafter will the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God." Then they all said, "So you are the Son of God then?" "You said I am." **** Pontius Pilate asked of Jesus, "Are you the king of the Jews?" "You said it." **** As Jesus was led to the site of the crucifixion, a huge crowd of people followed him, including women who wrung their hands and wept for him. "Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. For the days are coming in which they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bear and the breasts which never gave suck.’ Then will they begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’ For if they do these things to a green tree, imagine what will be done to the dry." **** Two criminals being crucified along with Jesus heard him say: "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." One of the criminals said, "Aren't you Christ? Why don't you save yourself - and us?" But the other one said, "Aren't you afraid of God even when you're getting the same punishment as he is? And it's fair enough for us, for we've only got what we deserve, but this man never did anything wrong in his life." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." And Jesus answered:

"Truly I say you will be with me in paradise today." **** At about midday, Jesus gave a great cry and said, "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit." And with these words, he died. **** As two men walked along, the risen Jesus followed with them as they recounted the events of recent days and the women who had experienced him at the temple, but the lack of evidence. Jesus spoke: "Oh the fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken. Ought not Christ to have suffered these things and then enter into his glory?" Then he explained to them everything in the scriptures that referred to himself, and while they were still talking, Jesus stood and said, "Peace be upon you." They thought they were seeing a ghost and were afraid. "Why are you troubled? And why do these thoughts arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet. Know that it is I, myself. Handle me and see, for a spirit has not flesh and bones, as you see me have." They still could not believe it through sheer joy and were quite bewildered and Jesus said to them, "Have you any meat?" They gave him a piece of broiled fish and part of a honeycomb. Then he said: "These are the words which I spoke while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and in the psalms concerning me. It is written, therefore it behooved Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, so repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you, but stay here in the city of Jerusalem for a while until you are filled with power from on high."

IV From the Gospel According to John **********************
Jesus saw Nathaniel coming towards him after Philip asked him to meet with Jesus, and remarked, "Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no guile!" "How can you know me?" returned Nathaniel. "Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree." Nathaniel exclaimed, "Master, you are the Son of God, you are the king of Israel." "Because I said that I saw you under the fig tree, you believe? You will see greater things than these. Truly I say that you will see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man." **** In the Temple Jesus discovered the exploitation of dealers and money-changers. "Take these things out of here. Don’t make my Father's house a house of merchandise." **** Nicodemus, a leading Jew, came to see Jesus. "Master, we realize that you are a teacher who has come from God. Obviously no one could show the signs that you show unless God were with him." "Truly I say that unless a man becomes born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." "But how can a man go back into his mother's womb and be born a second time?" "Truly I say that unless a man is born of water and Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said that you must be born again. The wind blows and you hear the sound of it, but you can’t tell where it comes from and where it goes. So it is with every one that is born of the Spirit." "How on earth can things like this happen?" said Nicodemus.

"How are you a master of Israel and yet don’t know these things? We speak of what we know and testify to that we have seen; and yet you don’t receive our witness. If I tell you earthly things and you don’t believe, then how will you believe if I tell you of heavenly things? “No man has ascended up to heaven except for He who came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but so the world through him might be saved. He who believes in the Son is not condemned: but he who doesn’t believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. “And this is the condemnation, that Light has come into the world and men loved darkness rather than Light because their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and doesn’t come to the Light for fear that his deeds should be rebuked. But those who manifest truth come to the Light so their deeds may be made apparent, that they are formed in God." **** At "Jacob's Spring" a Samaritan woman arrived to draw some water. Jesus said to her, "Please give me a drink." "How can you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria?" "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that speaks with you now, you would have asked him for a drink and he would have given to you from the living waters of truth." "Sir, you have nothing to draw water with and this well is deep - where can you get your living water? Are you a greater man than our ancestor, Jacob, who gave us this well and drank here himself with his family and his cattle?" “Anyone drinking this water will thirst again, but those who drink of the water that I have to give will never thirst. The water that I give will be a well of water springing up into everlasting life." "Sir, give me this water, so that I may stop being thirsty and not have to come here to draw water anymore." "Go call your husband and bring him here." "I haven't got a husband!" the woman answered.

for other men labored and you are now coming to fulfill their labors. believe me." Jesus replied.’ I send you to reap where you did not labor." **** At Capernaum. you have spoken honestly. "Do you think anyone has brought him any food?" "My food is to do the will of Him who has sent me and to finish His work. an official’s son was very ill. God is a spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. for the Father seeks such to worship Him. when he comes he will make everything plain to us. the hour comes when you will not worship the Father on this mountain or at Jerusalem. In that. but you Jews say that Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship." "Sir. for salvation is of the Jews. do eat something. You don’t know what you worship. The one who is called Christ. Don’t say that there are yet four months until harvest time. ‘One sows and another reaps. for they are white and ready to harvest. I tell you to lift up your eyes and look on the fields. please come down before my boy dies!" "Go on your way." "Sir. your son lives. you will not believe." "Woman. We know what we worship. I tell you the saying is true." At this point his disciples arrived and begged Jesus. Those who will reap this harvest will receive wages and gather the fruit of eternal life so that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together."You are right when you say you have no husband." The disciples asked each other. Jesus said." **** . for you have had five husbands and the man you now have is not your husband. "Unless you see signs and wonders." "I am he." "Of course I know that Messiah is coming. I can see that you are a prophet! Our ancestors worshipped on this hillside. But the hour comes when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. He went off to see Jesus and begged him to come down and heal his son. "I have food to eat that you do not know about. "Master.

My Father will show you greater works than these so you may marvel. Jesus saw a man with a long time illness lying there on his back and asked. but the will of the Father who has sent me. even as they honor the Father. even so the Son gives life to any he chooses. which I am doing." "Rise. but I have greater witness than that of John. The hour has arrived when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear it will live. the son can do nothing for himself but what he sees his father do. These things I say that you might be saved. For as the Father has life in himself. For the father loves the son and shows him all things that he does. and He has given the Son authority to execute judgment also. but I don’t receive testimony from man. While I'm trying to get there somebody else gets down into it first. bear witness of me that the Father has sent me. and my judgment is just because I don’t seek my own will. “Those who hear my word and believe in Him who has sent me will have everlasting life and will not come into condemnation but pass from death to life. I just haven't got anybody to put me into the pool when the water is all stirred up. so has He given power to the Son to have life in himself. therefore I also work. "I can’t do anything of my own accord. because he is the Son of man. so putting himself on equal terms with God. these also does the son likewise do. And the Father Himself. For as the Father raises up the dead and gives them life. take up your bed. for what things the father does. under the arches. and walk. "Will you be made whole?" "Sir. There is another who bears witness of me and I know that the witness he shares about me is true. This was the Sabbath and it was because Jesus did such things on the Sabbath day that the Jews persecuted him. For the Father judges no man. If I bear witness of myself then my witness is not true.At the Pool of Bethesda. but has committed all judgment to the Son. for the works which the Father has given me to finish. Jesus said to them: "I tell you truly. who has sent me. As I hear. I judge. He who doesn’t honor the Son doesn’t honor the Father who has sent him. picked up his bed and walked. But Jesus' answer to them was this: "My Father is still working. because not only did he break the Sabbath but he referred to God as his own Father." The Jewish leaders were determined to kill Jesus. John was a burning and a shining light and you were willing for a season to rejoice in his light." At once the man recovered. has . “You sent John and he bore witness to the truth. that all men should honor the Son.

But if you don’t believe his writings. But I said to you that you have seen me and do not believe. and that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have everlasting life. when did you come here?" "You seek me. "Lord. You have neither heard His voice at any time. When they found him on the other side of the lake. and I will raise them up at the last day. Had you believed Moses. And you will not come to me that you might have life. not to do my own will. for you don’t believe in the one He has sent. If another comes in his own name you will receive him. for it is Moses that accuses you. that you don’t have the love of God in you. nor seen His shape. "Master. Labor not for the meat which perishes. but should raise it up again at the last day. when the crowd realized Jesus was gone. "What must we do to carry out the work of God?" "The work of God is to believe in the one God has sent.borne witness of me. how will you believe my words?” **** The following day. always!" "I am the bread of life. for he wrote of me. you would have believed me. but for the meat which endures into everlasting life which the Son of man will give to you. and yet not seek the honor that comes from God only? Don’t think that I will make accusations of you to the Father. they said to him. I have come in my Father's name and you don’t receive me. but the will of the Father who sent me. For I came down from heaven." . “Search the scriptures. and you don’t have His word abiding in you. I receive not honor from men. please give us this bread. but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. for in them you think you have eternal life and they are those which testify of me." "Moses did not give you that bread from heaven. not because you saw the miracles. they got into boats and went off to Capernaum to look for him. All that the Father gives me will come to me and he who comes to me I will never cast out. but I know you." This made them ask him. that of all that He has given me I should lose nothing." "Then what sign can you give us that will make us believe in you? What work are you doing? Our forefathers ate manna in the desert just as the scripture says. He who comes to me will never hunger and he who believes in me will never thirst. for God the Father has approved him. For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. but my Father gives you true bread which comes from heaven." They said. How can you who receive honor from one another believe. “And this is the Father's will.

he will live forever and the bread that I will give is my flesh. If any man eats of this bread. "How can this man give us his body to eat?" "I tell you that unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood. If you are going to do things like this. he who eats of this bread will live forever." The Jews argued. “Understand that he who believes in me has everlasting life." But at the very height of the festival. The Jews were amazed. "This is hard teaching indeed." Jesus replied by saying. This is the bread which comes down from heaven that a man may eat from and not die. for my time has not yet fully come.’ Every man therefore who has heard and has learned of the Father. The Jews began grumbling at this. The flesh profits nothing. you have no Life in you. As the living Father has sent me and I live by the Father. the son of Joseph. they are Spirit and they are Life. dwells in me and I in him. but it hates me because I testify that the works of the world are evil. I am the Living Bread which came down from heaven. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day. ‘And they will be all taught of God. I will not go yet. which I will give for the life of the world. whose parents we know? How can he say ‘I have come down from Heaven?’” Jesus answered. "You ought to leave here and go to Judea so that your disciples can see what you are doing. indeed." Many of his disciples heard him say these things and commented. comes to me. I am the bread of life. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood. "How does this man know all this . "My time has not yet come. Unlike your fathers who ate manna and are dead. so does he who eats me live by me. But there are some of you that don’t believe. and my blood is drink. for nobody works in secret if he wants to be known publicly. For my flesh is meat.he has never been taught?" . Jesus went up to the Temple and began teaching. "Murmur not among yourselves. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness and are dead. The world cannot hate you. You go to this feast. Only the one who is of God has seen the Father. “Is this not Jesus. let the world see what you are doing. but your time is always ready." **** A Jewish festival was approaching and his brothers said to him. Who could accept that?" "Does this offend you? What if you see the Son of man ascend up to where he was before? It is the Spirit that gives life. The words I speak to you. It is written by the prophets. No man can come to me unless the Father who has sent me draws him and then I will raise him up at the last day. indeed. No man has seen the Father. This is the bread which came down from heaven.

the same is true and no unrighteousness is in him. ‘Out of his belly will flow rivers of living water. "Isn't this the man whom they are trying to kill? It's amazing he talks quite openly and they haven't a word to say to him. Moses commanded us to stone such women to death. I have not come for myself." **** Then. ." Then he stooped down again and continued writing with his finger on the ground. If a man on the Sabbath day receives circumcision so the law of Moses should not be broken. If any man will do God’s will. are you angry at me because I have made a man whole on the Sabbath day? Judge not according to the appearance. but he who seeks the glory of God who sent him. "You must be mad! Who is trying to kill you?" "I have done one work and you all marvel about it. Now.when Christ comes. we know this man and where he comes from . “According to the Law. He who speaks of himself seeks his own glory. "If any man has thirst. And when they understood what he was saying. So Jesus stood up and said to the woman. but from Him who has sent me. Jesus stood up and cried out. they all left one by one. but judge the righteous act. on the last day. Moses gave you circumcision (not because it is of Moses. no one will know where he comes from. But as they persisted in their questioning. what do you say about her?" Jesus simply stooped down and began to write with his finger in the dust on the ground. let him cast the first stone at her. Surely our rulers haven't decided that this really is Christ! But then. the climax of the festival. he will know whether the doctrine is of God or whether I speak for myself. "He who is without sin. for I am from Him and He has sent Me. he straightened himself up and said to them. You know Him not. He who believes in me." "You both know me and you know where I am from. as the scripture has said." **** Some of the people were saying. but for He who has sent me. let him come to me and drink. but of the fathers) and you on the Sabbath day circumcise a man. but I know Him."My doctrine is not mine.’” **** A woman was caught in adultery and brought to Jesus to test him. “Moses gave you the law and yet none of you keep the law? Why do you set about to kill me?" The crowd answered.

then? Is that why he says. I am from above. You are of this world. "You do not know me or my Father. you will die in your sins." **** Later. but I judge no man." "Though I testify about myself. "You are testifying to yourself . I am one that bears witness of myself and the Father who sent me also bears witness of me. but He who sent me is true and I speak to the world those things which I have heard from Him. my judgment is true. If you had known me. that the testimony of two men is true. you cannot come. but will have the light of life. And yet if I did judge. Jesus spoke to them again and said. Go and sin no more. I said that you will die in your sins because if you do not believe that I am He. sir. "I am going away and you will seek for me. "Is he going to kill himself.” **** Later. for I am not alone."Where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?" And she said. ‘You cannot come where I am going?’" "You are from beneath." "And where is this father of yours?" they replied. but die in your sins. I am not of this world. "Who are you?" "It is the same that I have said to you from the beginning." Pharisees said. "I am the Light of the world. "No one. Your judgment is human. you would have known my Father also. I have many things to say and to judge of you. It is also written in your law. He who follows me will not walk in darkness.your evidence is not valid. but you cannot tell this." Then they said. ." This made the Jews say. Where I am going. for I know from where I came and where I will go." "Neither do I condemn you. my claims are no less true. Jesus spoke to the people again and said. but from the Father who sent me.

You don’t hear them because you are not of God. Because I tell you the truth. "Let me tell you that anyone who commits sin is the servant of sin. then are you my disciples indeed and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free.“When you have lifted up the Son of man. “You are of your father. Abraham did not do these things. But now you seek to kill me." "But we are descendants of Abraham and we have never in our lives been any man's slaves. I speak these things." "Our father is Abraham!" they retorted. you would do the works of Abraham. And the servant abides not in the house forever. The Father has not left me alone. then will you know that I am He and that I do nothing of myself. If the Son therefore will make you free. and the lusts of your father you will do. "If you were Abraham's children. the devil.” As he spoke these words. He was a murderer from the beginning and did not live in the truth because there is no truth in him. “Which of you convicts me of sin? And if I say the truth. but He sent me. And He who sent me is with me. Why do you not understand my speech? You do not want to hear what I say. you will be free indeed." Some said. a man who has told you the truth which I have heard from God. "How right we are in calling you a Samaritan and mad at that!" . As my Father has taught me. I speak that which I have seen with my Father and you do that which you have seen with your father. When he speaks a lie. many believed him. he speaks of his own accord for he is a liar and the father of lies. for I always do those things which please Him. you would love me. “I know that you are Abraham's seed. "If you continue in my word. why do you not believe me? Those who are of God hear God's words. for I proceeded forth and came from God." "If God were your Father. You do the deeds of your father. but the Son abides forever." "We are not illegitimate! We have one Father and he is God. you don’t believe me. I didn’t come from myself. but you seek to kill me because my word has no place in you.

nor his parents. he will never see death. he will never experience death!' Are you greater than our father.I Am. If I were to say I did not know Him then I would become a liar like you. I tell you that if a man keeps my saying. "Look. made a sort of clay with the saliva and then applied it to the man's eyes. I must work the works of Him that sent me while it is day. I am the light of the world. Yet you have not known Him." Some of the Pharisees overheard this and said. but I know Him. I do believe. sir? Tell me." And they said.” “For judgment I have come to this world." "Lord. "So we're blind. He talks with you now. you are not fifty yet and has Abraham seen you?" "I tell you honestly that before Abraham was . so Jesus went to him. Abraham died and the prophets. are we?" . Abraham?” "If I honor myself."I have no devil in me. for there is one who seeks and judges. telling him: "Go wash in the pool of Siloam. "Do you believe in the Son of God?" "And who is he. too. so that I can believe in him. for the night comes when no man can work. It is my Father that honors me. he spat on the ground. but I know Him and keep His saying. Truly I say the servant is not greater than his lord and neither is he who is sent greater than He who sent him." Jesus made reference to the betrayal soon to come." **** Jesus began the process of washing the feet of his disciples and Simon Peter said to him. not just my feet but my hands and my face as well!" said Peter.and doesn’t receive my words has one who judges him. Jesus said to him. When Jesus had washed their feet. "After I dip this bread. "Do you know what I have done to you? I have given you an example that you should do as I have done to you." Judas took the piece of bread and went out quickly into the night. for I know one who I have chosen will fulfill the scripture. ” Thomas said. so believe also in me. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me. that you love one another." "Lord. . and you will know the way. As I have loved you. Where I go you will know. the cock will not crow before you deny me three times. but through me. ‘Show us the Father?’ Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words I speak to you are not from me." Simon Peter said to him. that the Father may be glorified in the Son. you would have known my Father also. "Lord. because I go to my Father. And I go to prepare a place for you. ‘Where I go. You believe in God. so how can you say. "Lord. and even greater works than these will he do. so how can we know what way you're going to take?" "I am the way. All men will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another. Lord. If you had known me. I am with you for a little while longer. and we will be satisfied. I would have told you." **** Continuing on. you may also be. Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. And if I go and prepare a place for you. if God is glorified in the Son of man. but from the Father who dwells in me. and from now on you do know Him and have seen Him. "After all this time do you not yet know me. and the life. though you will follow me later. you cannot come. may you also love one another. "I would lay down my life for you!" "Would you lay down your life for my sake? Truly I say. If you ask anything in my name."Now is the Son of man glorified and God is glorified in him. we do not know where you're going.’ So now I want to give you a new commandment. "Show us the Father. “My children. where are you going?" "Where I go you cannot follow now. know that I will come again and receive you myself so that where I am. I will do it. Therefore. then God will also glorify the Son of man immediately in Himself. You may soon seek me and as I said to the Jews. In my Father's house there are many mansions. Jesus said: "Let not your heart be troubled. No man comes to the Father.

so that when it happens you might believe.’ If you loved me.“If you love me. Peace I leave with you. and every branch that bears fruit He prunes. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself. I will not leave you comfortless. So let not your heart be troubled. given not as the world gives. . neither let it be afraid. but you know Him for He dwells with you and will be in you. Now you are clean through the word which I have spoken to you. And now I have told you before it has come to pass. Every branch that doesn’t bear fruit He takes away. Because I live. so it may bring forth more fruit. let us go forth. except as it lives on the vine. The word which you hear is not mine. Men gather them and cast them into the fire and they are burned. The world cannot receive it. I will do as the Father has asked me to do. will bring forth much fruit. how is it that you are going to make yourself known to us but not to the world?" "If a man loves me. ‘I go to the Father. keep my commandments. Live in me and I in you. He who has my commandments and keeps them. so He may reside with you forever. which is the Holy Ghost that the Father will send in my name. he will keep my words. I will not talk much with you after this. my peace I give to you." Then Judas Alpheus said. ‘I go away and come again to you.” **** Jesus taught the disciples further. and my Father will love him and we will come to him and reside in him. but you see me. “You have heard how I said to you. I am the vine. He will teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance that I have said to you. but the Comforter.’ for my Father is greater than I. "Lord. If a man lives not in me. “In but a little while the world will see me no more. a Spirit of truth. But so the world may know that I love the Father. He who lives in me and I in him. you will live also. I will come to you. "I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener who tends to the vines. He who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my sayings. you are the branches. and he who loves me will be loved by my Father and I also will love him and will manifest myself to him. If you live in me and my words live in you. he is thrown away like a broken branch and withers. On that day you will know that I am in my Father and you in me and I in you. no more can you unless you live in me. you would rejoice. “Arise. but as I give. for the prince of this world comes and has nothing in me. because it sees Him not and doesn’t know Him. you will ask what you will and it will be done to you. because I said. but the Father's who sent me. is the one who loves me. “These things have I spoken to you while I am present with you. I will pray to the Father and He will give you another Comforter. Without me you can do nothing.

but now they have no cloak for their sin. If they have kept my saying. and the time comes when those who would kill you will think they are doing service to God. because they know not Him who has sent me. know that it hated me before it hated you. If I had not done the works that only I could do they would not have sin. I have called you friends. the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father. because you have been with me from the beginning. they will also persecute you. But all these things will they do in my name. "Where are you going?" Because I have said these things to you. Continue in my love. These things I command you. This is my commandment: that you love one another. You have not chosen me. . I didn’t say these things to you at the beginning because I was with you. the world would love you. You are my friends. ‘The servant is not greater than his Lord. He who hates me hates my Father also. If you were of the world. Greater love has no man than a willingness to lay down his life for his friends.’ “But when I send to you the Comforter. He will give it to you.“My Father will be glorified in that if you bear much fruit you will be my disciples. “If the world hates you. “I have spoken these things to you so my joy might remain in you and fill you with joy. “From here forward I don’t call you servants. “Remember what I have said. as I have called you out of the world. as I have loved you. but now I will return to Him who has sent me and none of you asks me. They will put you out of the synagogues. As the Father has loved me.’ If they have persecuted me. so have I loved you. that you love one another. They will do these things to you because they have not known the Father or me. it is true that the world will hate you. for if you keep my commandments. for the servant doesn’t know what his Lord does. ‘They hated me without a cause. if you do whatever I command you. And you will also bear witness. He will testify of me. you may remember that I told you of them. What is written in their law has come to pass. but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. sorrow has filled your heart. even as I have kept my Father's commandments and live in His love. “If I had not come and spoken to them they would not have sin. but I have chosen you and ordained you. that you should go and bring forth fruit and that your fruit should remain. I have told you these things so that when the time comes. you will live in my love. “These things I have told you so you won’t be offended. Whatever you ask of the Father in my name. but because you are not of the world. they will keep yours also. for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known to you.

" "Now you are speaking plainly. And in that day you will ask me nothing." . because I go to my Father and you see me no more." The disciples talked amongst each other trying to figure out what Jesus was saying. because I go to the Father. she no longer remembers the anguish. leaving me alone. and you will be sorrowful. “In a little while you will not see me. Oh. I came forth from the Father into the world and now I leave the world and go to the Father. He will glorify me. but whatever He hears. and you will see me again. but if I depart. but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice and you’ll have joy that no man can take from you. He will guide you into all truth. Truly I tell you that whatever you ask the Father in my name. each man to his own. but has joy that a child is born into the world. and then a little while more. And yet I am not alone. of righteousness. that in me you might have peace. No more questions are needed. Until now you have asked nothing in my name. and of judgment. “I have many more things to say. It is expedient for you that I go away. "Do you now believe? Behold. because the prince of this world is judged. but your sorrow will be turned into joy. but as soon as she has delivered the child. because the Father Himself loves you because you have loved me and you can ask directly in my name. He will speak. This makes us sure that you did come from God. for all things that the Father has are mine. "Do you inquire among yourselves of what I meant when I said. that you will be scattered. because they don’t believe in me. because the Father is with me. “So now you have sorrow. but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world." said the disciples. These things I have shared with you. but the world will rejoice. ask and you will receive that your joy may be full.“Nevertheless I tell you the truth. but you cannot bear them now. how it will be when the Spirit of truth comes. for you believed that I came out from God. but the time comes when I will no longer speak in parables. A woman when she is in childbirth has sorrow because her hour has come. I will send Him to you. the hour comes. but they were perplexed. On that day you will ask in my name and I won’t say that I will pray to the Father for you. ‘In a little while you will not see me. “These things have I spoken to you in parables. and you will see me again?’ I tell you that you will weep and lament. He will give it you. even now. And when He comes He will accuse the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment: Of sin. Now we know that everything is known to you. and He will show you things to come. and then a little while more. In the world you will have tribulation. but I will show you plainly of the Father. for He will not speak of Himself. for if I did not leave then the Comforter would not come to you. for He will receive what is mine and will show it to you.

I have manifested your name to the men which you gave me from the world. that they might know you. Yours they were. but for those also who will believe in me through their word. I pray not that you should take them out of the world. keep through your own name those you have given me. but for those you have given me. And now Father. that they all may be one as you Father are in me and I in you. I have glorified you on the earth. glorify me with your own self.**** Jesus raised his eyes to Heaven. “And now I come to you and these things I speak so they might have my joy fulfilled in them. This is life eternal. with the glory which I had with you before the world was. except the son of perdition. but that you should keep them from evil. I pray not for the world. “As you have sent me into the world. I have kept them and none of them is lost. They are not of the world. that your Son may also glorify you. And all mine are Yours and Yours are mine. “Father. that they also might be sanctified through the truth. They are in the world and I come to you. that they may be one even as we are one. that they also may be one in us so the world may believe that you have sent me. for you loved me before the foundation of the world. that they may be one as we are. and I am glorified in them. I don’t pray for these alone. even as I am not of the world. for your word is truth. And for their sakes I sanctify myself. For I have given to them the words which you gave me and they have received them and have known surely that I came out from you and they have believed that you sent me. Holy Father. “And now I am no more in the world. Glorify your Son. I kept them in your name. I in them and you in me. that they may be made perfect in one and that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them as you have loved me. the only true God and Jesus Christ. even so have I also sent them into the world. While I was with them in the world. as you have given Him power over all flesh so He could give eternal life to as many as you have given Him. so that the scripture might be fulfilled. and they have kept your word. I will that those you have given me will be with me where I am so they may behold my glory which you have given me. I pray for them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them because they are not of the world. and you gave them me. “And the glory which you gave me I have given them. . Sanctify them through your truth. the hour has come. even as I am not of the world. “Now they have known that all things you have given me are from You. "Father. I have finished the work which you gave to me. for they are yours. whom you have sent.

let these others go their way. Why do you ask me? Ask those who heard me what I have said to them. I taught in the synagogue and in the temple where the Jews always resort and in secret I have said nothing. the world has not known you. "Put your sword back in the sheath. And I have declared to them your name and will declare it so that the love with which you have loved me may also be in them and I in them. Would you not have me drink the cup which my Father has given me?" **** The High Priest interrogated Jesus about his disciples and about his own teaching." Simon Peter drew a sword and slashed at the High Priest's servant. cutting off his right ear. "Is that the way for you to answer the High Priest?" "If I have spoken evil.“Oh. "Who do you seek?" "Jesus of Nazareth." An officer slapped Jesus with his open hand. So Jesus asked them again: "Who do you seek?" And again they said." they answered. for they know what I said. There was a bowl of sour wine standing there." Pilate said to him. To this end I was born and for this cause I came into the world. he said: "I thirst."Do you ask for yourself. but my kingdom is not from here. So they soaked a sponge in the wine. he cried: "It is finished. Jesus’ body was gone. **** Mary cried outside the tomb. then my servants would fight so I would not be delivered to the Jews. Realizing that everything was now completed. why do you cry? Who do you seek?" "Oh sir. "Woman. "Master!" . "You say I am a king. "It's your people and your chief priests who handed you over to me. that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone that is of the truth hears my voice. if you have carried him away please tell me where you have put him." "Mary!" At this she turned right round and said to him." And he died. therefore he who delivered me to you has the greater sin. are you?" returned Pilate. put it on a spear and pushed it up towards his mouth." **** Jesus was crucified. "Won't you speak to me? Don't you realize that I have the power to set you free and I have the power to have you crucified?" "You could have no power at all against me." "So you are a king. Then she turned and noticed Jesus standing there. anyway?" "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world. without realizing that it was Jesus.

"Peace be upon you." they replied. with a fish placed on it and some bread. "Cast the net on the right side of the ship and you will find them." . But a week later. Blessed are they who have not seen and yet have believed. you have believed. they saw that a charcoal fire was burning. and reach your hand here and thrust it into my side. Jesus appeared to the disciples again when they were fishing. "Bring some of the fish you've caught. Be not faithless. for I am not yet ascended to my Father." And Mary of Magdala went off to the disciples. "Thomas. even so I now send you. to my God and your God. Instead. the disciples were overjoyed. because you have seen me. **** Later the disciples met with doors locked for fear of the Jews. Reach your finger here and behold my hands." "My Lord and my God!" cried Thomas.

" he replied. Truly I tell you. Jesus said to Simon Peter: "Simon. " **** . son of Jonas. Lord. Lord. son of Jonas. when you were young. "You know that I am your friend. you protected yourself and walked where you wanted. do you love me?" "Yes. Jesus said: "Simon. do you love me more than these?" "Yes." And again. you will stretch forth your hands and another will protect you and carry you where you would not." "Then feed my sheep. but when you are old. "Then feed my sheep." returned Peter. When they had finished breakfast.
