Many leaders are not equipped to handle the

change to teams. New skills such as the patience to share information, to trust others, to give up authority, and to understand others. Team leaders are liaisons with external constituencies, troubleshooters, conflict managers, coaches.

MENTORING
Many leaders create mentoring relationships. A mentor is a senior employee who sponsors

& supports a less-experienced employee. Successful mentors are good teachers.

Self leadership
A set of processes through which individuals

control their own behavior. How do leaders create self leaders? Model self-leadership Encourage employees to create self-set goals Create positive thought patterns Encourage self-criticism

Online leadership
Most research has been conducted with

face-to-face and verbal leadership situations. What about online leadership? There is no non-verbal component. Instead, the structure of words in digital communications can influence reactions. Messages can convey trust, status, task directives, or emotional warmth. Writings skills are likely to become an extension of interpersonal skills in the future.

Leadership effectiveness needs to address

the means that a leader uses in trying to achieve goals as well as the content of those goals. Unethical leaders are more likely to use their charisma to enhance power over followers, directed toward self-serving ends. Ethical leaders are considered to use their charisma in a socially constructive way to serve others.

Why should leaders behave ethically?


The relentless pursuit of self-interest can lead

to a collective disaster when one or more people start to profit from being unethical because this encourages other people to act in the same way. DO NO HARM is one of the strongest ethical principles.
