Equipping students to impact the world for Christ Do Hard Things

November 26, 2012

Dear Parents, I had a great time of learning and “Doing Hard Things” in Thailand. I was able to visit with friends, take a zip-line through the jungle, ride an elephant, listen to stories of educators and students from various parts of Asia, and be challenged in my faith and as an educator. I am looking forward to being back with the students and sharing some of my experiences with them. Language arts - I am looking forward to seeing the students’ projects and hearing their presentations about their research. We will be practicing in class this week, but it would be good if your child could practice his/her speech for you at home. In reading we will be talking about terms such as index, glossary, table of contents, and caption. Bible - We are beginning a new unit on Jesus’ Preaching and Who is Jesus. Jesus loved the people and cared for their physical and spiritual needs. He revealed himself as God’s son through His miracles. Mathematics - We will continue to practice our harder addition and subtraction facts along with practicing telling time to the 5 minutes and working

with money. With time we will work on some vocabulary such as: a quarter to, half past, a quarter till, -- minutes past, -- minutes till. With money we will be working on counting up to find change and as a subtraction strategy.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
