SPONSORS DRUM & LYRE COMPETITION


The Department of Education Division of Davao City in cooperation with the Davao City of Anti-Drug the City Abuse Mayors Council Office

(CADAC)

successfully held the Drum and Lyre Competition held last November 20, 2012 at the historic Rizal Park of this city. The competition was participated by the different public elementary and secondary schools which showed excellence in bugle performance specifically in

movement execution, formation and display of prowess. Different city schools even those in the highlands heeded the contest which was proclaimed through Division Memorandum # 1038 s 2012 signed by Dr. Helen D. Paguican, the Schools Division Superintendent. The aim of the contest was to strengthen the advocacy of the AntiDrug Abuse Council of the city through DepEd regarding the youths implicit rejection of illegal drugs and instead focus their energy on worthwhile activities

tantamount to personal development. Dr. Nelson T. Ibana, the Education Program Supervisor and at the same time the Division Drug Abuse Resistance

Education (DARE) Coordinator together with Mrs. Amelia S. Lacerna, EPS for MAPEH and Culture and Arts supervised the over-all progress of the competition since its conceptualization. The performance lasted for 8 to 12 minutes per group with a total of 12 and 8 registrants in the elementary and in the

secondary level respectively. Each participating school was judged according to the following criteria: Musicality (40%), Mastery and Coordination (30%), Choreography (15%) and Deportment (15%). After astonishing delivery judges of every

Catalunan Pequeo NHS; and the most coveted prize went to Sta. Ana NHS, the grand champion. Atty. Elizeo Braganza, the CADAC Action Officer representing Hon. Mayor Sarah Z. Duterte-Carpio, personally conveyed his congratulatory speech and handed over to the winners their cash prizes and trophies.
