OBJECTIIVE: • esotropia NURSING DIAGNOSIS Disturbed body image related to esotropia. SCIENTIFIC RATIONALE Esotropia is a form of strabismus, or "squint", in which one or both eyes turn s inward. The condition can be constantly present, or occur intermittently, and can give the affected individual a "cross-eyed" appearance. Esotropia is sometimes erroneously called "lazy eye", which describes the condition of amblyopia— a reduction in vision of one or both eyes that is not the result of any pathological lesion of the PLANNING After 8 hours of nursing intervention, the client will verbalized understanding and acceptance of body changes INTERVENTIONS • Observe emotional changes RATIONALE • this may indicate acceptance or nonacceptanc e of situation provides opportunity to identify fears/misconc eptions and deal with them directly enhances feelings of competency / self-worth, encourages independence and participation in therapy maintaining appearance enhances self-image EVALUATION After 8 hours of nursing intervention, the client verbalized understanding and acceptance of body changes
