The UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance is located in the heart of Kansas City, a city thriving with opportunities in the areas of music, dance and the arts. Barbara Bishop, Associate Principal Oboist of the Kansas City Symphony, plays orchestral and chamber music in Jackson, Wyoming with the Grand Teton Music Festival during summers, and is a regular Guest Principal with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. She has been a soloist with the National Repertory Orchestra and has recorded on the Sony Classical and Newport Classics labels. She has served as Principal Oboist with the Baton Rouge Symphony, Alexander Schneider’s New York String Orchestra, and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra.
