AMODEO/BROWN PRAISE PASSAGE OF AR-88
-- Lower House Urges Congress To Appropriate $60.4 Billion For Hurricane Sandy Recovery -Northfield, NJ - Assemblymen John Amodeo and Chris A. Brown praised the passage of Assembly Resolution 88 today which urges Congress to enact legislation requested by President Obama to provide $60.4 billion in federal resources to help afflicted States, like New Jersey, recover from damage wrought on by Hurricane Sandy. The resolution passed the Assembly today by a vote of 77-0. “Americans come together in times of crisis,” said Assemblyman John Amodeo. “In New Jersey, far too many watched their homes, businesses and way of life wash away by Superstorm Sandy. Rebuilding and recovering is too big of a job for us to do alone. Congress needs to act, as it has so many times before for other regions who have been hit by natural disasters. “Sandy’s power and destruction were an unprecedented event for our region,” said Assemblyman Chris Brown. “Washington needs to put aside its partisanship and Congress should continue its proud tradition of swiftly assisting states’ harmed by natural disasters. Our region is an economic powerhouse for the entire country. Helping us pay for the costs of rebuilding will not only help our residents but the entire country as a whole.” ###
