Sacred Heart News
Principal’s Corner Dear Parents,
Friday’s tragedy in Connecticut, has every school across the nation reviewing safety procedures in our schools. For the staff at Sacred Heart, our first concern is to keep your children safe. Our new facility heightens our security at the school and parish offices and we are better able to monitor people coming in to our buildings. We practice lock down drills and pay attention to details such as keeping doors locked. Parents, please do not feel offended if we do not recognize you on our security cameras and ask who you are or that we ask you to sign in and wear a visitor badge. If we ask you to wait for your children by the school office, please know it is only because we need to control what is happening in the hallway. Please be patient with athletic practices when the doors are locked and you have to wait for your child in the parking lot. All these inconveniences and rules are there to keep us safe. If there is something that needs our attention, please let us know. As a staff, we will be reviewing all safety procedures that we have in place to ensure safety for all. For helpful parent information on how you can help your child cope with tragedy, Please go to www.drdavewalsh.com/posts/123 Children’s Prayer for Protection Angel of God, my Guardian dear, To whom God’s love commits me here; Ever this day, be at my side To light and guard To rule and guide Yesterday was the Third Sunday in Advent, as we prepare for the coming of the Messiah, the one who is anointed with the Holy Spirit of God. This morning we met in the new gathering space to light the 3rd candle on our Advent wreath. The four candles on the wreath help us count the four Sundays in Advent as we wait for Christmas. Let us pray that God will fill us with joy at the coming of Christ. Lord God, may we, your people, who look forward to the birthday of Christ experience the joy of salvation and celebrate that feast with love and thanksgiving. I lift my heart up to you, Lord, to thank you for the blessings you shower on me each day. This is the last newsletter for the 2012 school year! Sacred Heart Catholic School wishes you a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year! We helped make Christmas cheery and bright for many children. Our students were excited to see the many gifts collected. Thank you for your generosity in purchasing toys, hats, mittens and scarves. Thank you to Hope Doerner for delivering these items to Risen Christ School. The Christmas program this year will involve the following grades: Kinder, 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th along with our band students. The 7th graders will be performing “Jingle Jury”. The concert and play is scheduled for Thursday, December 20th at 6:15 p.m and dress rehearsal at 12:15 pm in the Activities Building. Please dress in “Sunday” best. Seventh graders please arrive at 5:15 pm. and band members at 5:45 pm. The rest of the participating students should arrive by 6:00 p.m. Please note that this performance is part of the music curriculum for grades that are participating and part of the music grade. The students have been working very hard preparing for the concert. The students performing will have the opportunity to watch the concert during dress rehearsal. We ask that your child stay with the classroom teacher during the entire program. If you need to leave the program early, you may pick up your child to leave for the evening. We ask that you respect the performance as you would any stage performance and please refrain from leaving the gym while our students are performing. We encourage you to stay for the entire program.
