CFA # County Applicant Project Title Description
NYC DOT will work with agency partners to design, construct, and monitor five permeable pavement technologies in the Flushing Bay priority watershed in Queens. This project will provide valuable performance data to identify the pervious pavement type that is most effective in reducing stormwater runoff volume and velocity, the most cost-effective to implement on a larger scale within NYC’s street reconstruction budget, and the most operationally effective.

Office of Queens Borough President

The Office of the Queens Borough President, in collaboration with Coalition for Queens, will craft a Tech Zone Strategic Plan for the East River waterfront. The Strategic Plan will address Queens Tech Zone Strategic critical issues of transportation, infrastructure, urban design, land use and workforce development and will seek to foster an Plan environment that will support and encourage tech innovation industry growth and revitalization of this underutilized waterfront. The Queens Chamber of Commerce will receive an award to develop a free location-based app for iPhone and Android Queens About Mobile Phone mobile phones targeted at tourists coming to the borough next App year for the Major League Baseball All-Star game, the Super Bowl, and the U.S. Open. The Trust for Public Land will conduct a feasibility study for the QueensWay. Once constructed, the QueensWay will transform an abandoned eyesore – a 3.5-mile former rail line through the Queensway Feasibility Study heart of Queens – into a new pedestrian path and bikeway that will connect residents from the adjacent dense and diverse neighborhoods and will serve approximately 240,000 people living within one mile of the corridor. The NYCEDC will establish seed financing for the restoration of targeted wetlands in NY Harbor. This will leverage public and Mitigation Banking Pilot Project private investment in 60 waterfront development projects that may require mitigation to offset environmental impacts to tidal wetlands. Low Cost Economic Development Financing Federal Industrial Development Bond (IDB) Cap will be made available for state and local government issuers to sell taxexempt bonds for eligible economic development, infrastructure and community revitalization efforts. Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits will be reserved for future projects including business investments in targeted industries that are within the region and that create or retain jobs, create capital investment and are consistent with the Strategic Plan.
