About The University


Khmelnitsky national university (KhNU) is one of the leading higher

institutions of Podilya region, has the 4th level of accreditation. The University was founded in 1962. Nowadays KhNU consists of 7 faculties, 45 departments with 862 faculty members, 73 of them are Doctors of Sciences, Professors, 453 are Candidates of Sciences. The student body consists of 9 938 students, including 5 463 students at the full-time department, 4229 students at the part-time and distance departments. The University trains specialists in 43 humanitarian, economic and technical majors. The Grad school trains scientic personnel in 21 Candidate of Sciences majors and 4 Doctoral ones. The University features ve Specialized Scientic Boards for the defense of Doctoral and Candidates theses, where within three last years there have been defended 10 Doctoral theses and about 100 Candidates ones.

Introduc:on ECTS
Nowadays the University uses unied curricula of training specialists

in all 36 areas, adapted to ECTS standards. Within 20062008 there were conducted the development and academic application of the form of a students individual academic syllabus. The advantages of the new document are as follows:

availability of the information about core and elective courses, at this the

list of the latter is formed directly by the student under the guidance of an academic supervisor for each academic year; availability of the additional information about the courses which a student studied at partner institutions, additional courses and credits, accumulated by the student for such activities as scientic-research work, publishing articles, theses of the speech, participation in students conferences etc.

Advantages of ECTS introduc:on


Increase of the personal responsibility of a student for the

process of choosing an individual training trajectory and evaluation of the personal academic progress, ultimate educational goals. The students can individually select not only the trajectory of mastering the individual syllabi, but also Higher institutions, countries, where they plan to continue their education. Increase of the motivation for studying. Application of standardized forms of objective pedagogical control.

The issue of European type diploma supplements to the graduates of our university since 2010 became a step to the realization of Bologna principles.

UMEKH includes main industrial enterprises of

Khmelnitsky region, their associations and higher institutions, including Khmelnitsky national university, the representative of which is a member of the board of administration.
