Happy New Year! We hope you had a great time celebrating the winter holidays with your students! Welcome back to Baychester and to a new year. Did you know you can help Baychester Middle School, just by doing your everyday shopping? Join the Target Take Charge of Education Program. Use your Target RED Card every time you shop at Target stores or online and 1% of your total purchase will be donated to Baychester Middle School. To designate Baychester Middle School on an existing account, visit www.target.com/tcoe or call 1-800-316-6142. Additionally, the basketball season is well underway for both boys and girls! Our next home game is Friday, January 11 at 4:15pm for our Girls Team against 101. Boys JV will have a home game on Thursday, January 17 again 22. Please come out to support our teams.

No School for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

6th Grade Upcoming Units of Study Math & Science 6th Grade Math is studying Unit 3: Expressions and Equations where they will begin their study of algebra. If x + 7 = 10, what does x equal? Ask your sixth grader to find out! In Humanities, NYU, Columbia, and Illinois are studying Ancient Greece and are thinking about this question - what makes a group of people powerful? Ask your 6th grader, what are different forms of power in a civilization? Is a king more powerful than a democracy? Is it better to have a strong army or a strong navy?

ELA & Humanities

7th Grade Upcoming Units of Study Math & Science 7th Grade Math is preparing for Unit 4: Expressions and Equations. Students will be learning how to combine like terms, solving for variables, and many other Pre-Algebra skills. In the world of Math and Music, the students will be exposed to 90's Pop Music while they work independently. Welcome back to ELA and Humanities, 7th grade!
