Active in his community, he has served on various boards in the past, participated in fund drives, and volunteered his time at a variety of organizations. At the Salina Family YMCA, Eichelberger has served as the Chairman, Director, and Treasurer at various times in the organization’s past. The Salina Family YMCA has been serving Salina, Kansas, and the surrounding area since 1887. It serves thousands of members each year, and even though it is a membership organization, no one is excluded from the YMCA if they are unable to pay. Instead, scholarships and subsidies are offered. In 2011, the Salina Family YMCA began an Income Based Membership Program to better serve the community. Being a non-profit organization, the Salina Family YMCA depends on its volunteers for their help in offering various services to the community. In 2011 alone, 1,375 volunteers contributed 14,996 service hours, an equivalent of $292,875 in paid staff time.
