Simotas Rallies for Gun Control
Call for Meaningful Reform in the Wake of Sandy Hook Tragedy ASTORIA, N.Y.- On Thursday, Assemblymember Aravella Simotas joined many state legislators and advocates to call for meaningful reform of our state’s gun laws. “My heart goes out to the families in Newton, Connecticut who lost their children and loved ones in last week’s horrific ordeal,” said Simotas. “I hope that as the nation begins to heal from this senseless tragedy, we can have a meaningful debate about strengthening our gun control policies on a local and federal level.” Simotas explained, “No child should fear for their life just going to school. Limits on large capacity weapons and the sale of ammunition, as well as other common sense measures, can help to prevent future mass shooting and keep our children safe." ###
