Katie’s Koats Collection Nets Hundreds of Jackets
It’s been less than two weeks since Katie’s Koats was launched and Albany County has already collected hundreds of coats. “To date we’ve received more than 600 coats, for the homeless and for our veterans,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. “We are hopeful that in the next two weeks we can collect more than double that for those who need them. The response has been tremendous and it really shows the generosity of spirit and giving of the people of the county. I again thank Katie Drobner of PG’s Café and Tim McCann of Best Cleaners for all their hard work in this effort.” Collection boxes have been set up at the County Office Building at 112 State Street, the Albany County Department of Health at 175 Green Street and the Albany County Department of Social Services building at 162 Washington Avenue as well as all Best Cleaners locations. “Thank you also to the Office of the State Comptroller,” continued McCoy. “They heard about Katie’s Koats and have put collection boxes at 110 State Street to help as well.” Coat collection will run through January 31st. Best Cleaners is cleaning them and coats will be distributed to the homeless and veterans by the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society. ###
