THE STORY OF HANUKKAH
January 12, 2012 WE DECIDED TO CREATE A TIMELINE TO ADD TO OUR TORAH ABOUT THE FULL STORY OF HANUKKAH THROUGH PICTURES OF BLOCK STRUCTURES
“WHAT SHOULD WE PUT ON OUR TIMELINE?

A Review of the Story
We also learned the Hebrew letters Dalet and Hay. We learned that Dalet makes the sound, “Duh” like dad and Hay makes the sound “Huh” like happy.

-The story of Hanukkah....There was a boy and all he said was lo! (no in Hebrew) Judah. He said no to his mom and dad and his brothers. He said no to the wicked king. Because he wanted to fight. Antiochus. He went to the temple. The temple of the Jews. He said “I’m going to destroy your temple! He said you have to pray to my Gods. The Jewish People said, “No!” N-O! No! You should write “Judah said ‘no’ to the king.” The king got very angry, so he got his big army. Judah gathered up all the Jews. They made a small army. They put up a fight. They waited until night and they they fought the other amy-the Greek Army. The Greek Army was so big- so they threw rocks on them. The Jews won! Yeah!! But during the war the Jew’s temple got destroyed. They had to build it back again. They couldn’t see. It came nighttime. And they had to work for many days. They lit the menorah with oil. They found it (the oil) in the temple. It wasn’t gonna last for a long time. Only one night. It lasted for 8 days. Miracle number 2. They prayed to their God. They finished building their temple. The End. -We will add the word Hanukkah to the top in Hebrew Letters.

STORYTELLING WITH JOYCE!

Our new Cycle 2 teacher is Joyce! Joyce uses her magic wand to help tell stories. All of the stories are stored in the wand and magically come out once all of our voices are turned off. The story we learned about was about a princess and her magical prince! We are excited for Joyce to help us develop our classroom theme of Stories.

Our voices are turned off when the magic wand touches our head.

Listening carefully.
