Job satisfaction is an attitude of an employee over a period of his job so the factors of satisfaction and dissatisfaction changes over the period. It is a relative term and is used as a key factor to gauge the performance of a particular employee and organization. Satisfied employees are more likely to be friendly and responsive compared to dissatisfied employees. This study endeavors to find the various factors of job satisfaction among private and nationalized bankers in Coimbatore city. Loyalty, task performance and contextual performance has been considered as the major factor for job satisfaction however other related factors like Extrinsic rewards, Reward fairness, Autonomy, Corporate image, Affinity, Employee development, Overall Satisfaction are also taken into account. The study was descriptive in nature and adopted quantitative approach. The study adopted the Employee Satisfaction Index model of Hsu and Wang (2008) and all the items in the instrument pertaining to the measures; Extrinsic Rewards, Supervisory Support, Fairness, Autonomy, Corporate Image, Affinity, Development, Employee Loyalty, Task Performance and Contextual Performance were measured on a five point scale of Likert ranging from Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree. The study adopted convenience sampling for the selection of banks. The respondents for the research comprised employees of the banks and were chosen at random. The numbers of respondents for the study comprise 200 employees working in banks located in the urban and rural areas of Coimbatore city. The collected data was analyses using percentage analysis, descriptive analysis, Anova and T test, Correlation, Regression, Discriminant Analysis and Model validation using Visual Partial Least Squares. Results of the study reveal that job satisfaction of bank officers is significantly dependent upon Extrinsic rewards, Reward fairness, Autonomy, Corporate image, Affinity, Employee development and brings to light that overall satisfaction has the expected positive effect on job satisfaction among autonomy score followed by affinity score.
