       INTRODUCTION PRINCIPLE OF ACC HARDWARE SENSOR OPTION SOFTWARE CO OPERATIVE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL[CACC] BENEFIT OF ACC .

• Adaptive Cruise Control tries to maintain: • Safe Distance when there is a leading vehicle • Set Speed when there is no leading vehicle in its path .

According to this .the brake and throttle controls are done to keep the vehicle the vehicle in a safe position with respect to each other. .   Acc works by detecting the distance and speed of the vehicles ahead by using either a lidar system or a radar system. The time taken by the transmission and reception is the key of the distance measurment while the shift in frequency of the reflected beam by doppler effect is measured to know the speed.

    RADAR LIDAR VISION SENSORS ULTRASONIC SENSOR .

By measuring the beat frequency differnce between a frequency modulated continuous light wave and its reflection. . The first acc system introduced by toyota used this method.

It is operated by radiating energy in to space and detecting the echo signal reflected from an object the reflected is not only indicative of the presence but on comparision with the transmitted signal.   Radar is an electromagnetic system for the detection and location of reflecting objects like air crafts. The currently used ‘pulse doppler radar’ use the principle of ‘doppler effect’in determining the velocity of the target.other information of the target can be obtained.ships space crafts or vehicles. .

. The new sensor system inrotused by fujitsu ten ltd.These two parts work togther to track the car from the non moving objects.And honda through their path program includes millimeter wave radar linked to a 640x480 pixel stereo camera with a 40 degree viewing angle.

Fuzzy controller is suitable for multi-parameters and nonlinear control problems. and the system transfer function is not required. . The distance and the relative velocity between the host vehicle and the obstacle Are the inputs of the fuzzy controller which is implemented in a PC.For distance control The authors propose a fuzzy logic algorithm to control the host vehicle.

NL : negative large PS : positive small NM : negative medium PM : positive medium NS : negative small PL : positive large Z : zero .

 Though conventional acc and sacc are still expensive novelties . .the cacc system allows the vehicle to communicate and to work togther to avoid collision.the next genration called cooperative acc is already being tested.While acc can respond to the difference between its own behavior and that of the preceding vehicle.

.   The driver is relieved from the task of careful acceleration.the fuel efficiency of the vehicle is increased.deceleration and braking in congested traffics. A highly responsive traffic system that adjusts itself to avoid accidents can be devloped. Since the breaking and acceleration are done in a systematic way .
