Ionian Village is the travel abroad camping ministry of the
Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Young people travel
to Greece from all over the United States to participate in the
program. During their experience at Ionian Village, they are
immersed in their Orthodox faith and Greek culture, while
making new friends from across the U.S. Each year Ortho-
dox Christian teenagers and young adults gather together at
Ionian Village, nestled between a pine forest and our private
beach on the Ionian Sea, to embark on a spiritual and cultural
odyssey. The Ionian Village experience provides campers with
the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of the saints and their
ancestors, while traveling through Greece and building their
relationship with Christ.

Summer Camp Excursions include:

• The islands of Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Kerkyra and Aegina, to

venerate the relics of Saint Dionysios, Saint Gerasimos, Saint
Spyridon and Saint Nektarios respectively.

• The church of St. Andrew in Patras, to venerate the relics

of Saint Andrew.

• Monasteries such as Mega Spileion where we venerate St.

Luke’s first century icon of the Theotokos, and Agia Lavra,
where the fght for Greek Independence began

• Ancient Olympia, Epidavros, and the Acropolis

• Local villages surrounding the camp like Bartholomeo, Gas-

touni, Kastro, and Glyfa

• And new excursions are added yearly!

The camping experience offered by Ionian Village is invaluable
and one of a kind. The daily sessions conducted on the camp-
grounds consist of Athletics, Arts and Crafts, Music and Greek
Culture, and Orthodox Life. Daily worship includes morning
prayers and evening prayers, as well as Divine Liturgy on Sun-
days and major feast days. Ionian Village participants gain a
full appreciation for Orthodoxy and Hellenism, and to learn how
to become active participants in their Orthodox faith.

Ionian Village offers two Sessions for campers in the 8th –
12th grades
