Instructions: i) Neat diagrams must be draw wherever necessary ii) Figures to the right indicate full marks. iii) Assume suitable data , if necessary. 1
The crank of oscillating cylinder engine mechanism is 50 mm long and 15 it rotates at 300rpm. The piston rod is 150 mm long and the distance between the crankshaft and trunnion is 250 mm. Draw the velocity and acceleration diagram at the instant when the crank is at 600 from IDC and hence determine (i) Velocity and acceleration of sliding piston. (ii) Angular velocity and acceleration of cylinder.

Fig. shows a mechanism for the needle of sewing machine in which the 15 crank AB of length 1.5 cm is inclined at 45o to the horizontal and rotates at 20 rad/s in clockwise direction. Other Dimensions of mechanism are: CD=2.2cm,DE=1.6cm,<CDE=90o horizontal distance between A and c = 1.2 cm,

Vertical distance between A and C = 4 cm, EF = 4 cm and BD = 3.5 cm. Determine the velocity of needle F while it is vertically below A by instantaneous method.

In an I.C. mechanism, the stroke length is 40 cm and the obliquity 8 ratio is 4. The angular acceleration of the connecting rod found to be 54 rad/s2, when the crank makes an angle of 450 With the IDC, while rotating at a uniform angular speed. Determine: i) The crank speed of RPM. ii) The acceleration of the piston. iii) The velocity of acceleration of the mid-point of the rod. Use Kleins construction method. A slider crank mechanism with zero offset has the crank and 7 connecting rod lengths equal to 30 mm and 150 mm respectively. The crank rotates at 600 rpm in clockwise direction using analytical method, find i) The maximum velocity of slider and the corresponding crank position. ii) The acceleration of the slider in its extreme positions.
