1. In artificial selection, nature provided the variation, and humans selected those variations that they found useful. 2. Over time, natural selection results in changes in the inherited characteristics of a population. These changes increase in a species’ fitness in its environment. 3. Evidence Darwin used to support his theory could be found in the fossil record, the geographical distribution of living species, homologous structures of living organisms, and similarities in early development, or embryology. 4. Darwin’s Theory of Evolution by natural selection led the way for further investigations about evolution and started the pathway for biology. His key items such as the struggle for existence, survival of the fittest, and descent modification may seem simple to us now, but that is due to how much we have expanded off of it and grown to realize this great accomplishment.
