SEXUAL ASSAULT SUSPECT ON LAM FROM TREATMENT CENTRE ARRESTED BY TRANSIT POLICE

Dwayne Dale LACEY, 31 years, NFA, was arrested February 11, 2013 by Transit Police Officers during a routine fare check at Gateway SkyTrain Station. Lacey, found without a fare, was determined to be on bail for Sexual Assault and breaching a Surrey Recognizance by being outside his residential treatment centre, while not in the presence of a worker. A check of the Coquitlam treatment centre found that Lacey had run away from the centre on February 8th. A search of Lacey revealed a concealed, sheathed knife, contrary to another Surrey Recognizance. Lacey, who is well known to police, was transported to jail after arrest and has made his first court appearance. He has been remanded in custody for a psychiatric assessment and will appear next in court on March 12, 2013. This arrest is similar to many of the 606 warrant arrests made by Transit Police in 2011, as identified in “Characteristics of offenders arrested on outstanding warrants by BC Transit Police” report by the University of the Fraser Valley (UVF).
