Arlington Native Launches Jireh's Place a National Non-Profit Dedicated to Empowering, Encouraging, and Motivating Young Ladies

Arlington, VA Dr. Shakina R. Dunbar, a local Arlingtonian launched Jireh's Place, a national non-profit organization founded to equip and nurture young ladies between the ages of 10-23, with the necessary tools and resources to develop a successful, independent life. Jireh's Place seeks to foster the growth of these girls by providing a happy, healthy, and prosperous lifestyle while enhancing their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Currently Jireh's Place has three programs running simultaneously. There is a program for young mothers ages 16-23 that is held at Macedonia Baptist Churchs Family Life Center in Arlington, VA, a teen girls' outreach program devoted to girls ages 12-17 held at Cora Kelly Recreation Center in Alexandria, VA, and a program for 4th grade girls enrolled in Drew Model School in Arlington, VA. Dr. Shakina R. Dunbar holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (George Mason University), a Master of Divinity (Howard University), and a Doctorate of Ministry (United Theological Seminary). In addition to Jirehs Place, Dr. Dunbar has also started The Fellowship, a ministry devoted to ensuring women are empowered, equipped, and transformed to be the greatest they can be.
