Since the Inaugural Game of July 15, 1999, over 35
million fans have passed through the gates of Safeco Field.

The Mariners are truly a regional team drawing from
one of the largest geographic home territories in Major
League Baseball – Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana,
Alaska and parts of western Canada. We have learned from
surveys that over half our fans come from outside King
County, and nearly half, 48%, tell us that they travel more
than one hour to get to the ballpark.

Once they arrive at Safeco Field, fans are treated to one
of the best ballparks in baseball, with a combination of the
charm of the classic ballparks and the modern touches that
make a fan’s game experience that much better. New to
Safeco Field this season is the largest HD videoscreen in
MLB, Edgar’s cantina and lounge, sure to be the hottest
spot in the ballpark, and new outfeld dimensions designed
to make the park more fair for both hitters and pitchers.

Sightlines from all seating areas are designed for optimal viewing. There are plenty of
places to gather and casually watch the game while enjoying the beauty of the natural
surroundings of Puget Sound and the downtown Seattle skyline. The Children’s Hospital
Playfeld provides a place for kids to blow off some steam, and “The ‘Pen” is a festive
“event-within-an-event” that attracts thousands of people before and during each game.

Designed as an extension of The ‘Pen’s casual atmosphere, Edgar’s makes its debut
this season. Located down the left feld line, Edgar’s is an open-air cantina with a standing
lounge just above it. Both will feature south-of-the-border favors courtesy of Safeco Field
consulting chef Ethan Stowell.

The Baseball Museum of the Pacifc Northwest and Seattle Mariners Hall of Fame
provide a connection to the region’s rich baseball history. They are co-located on the Main
Concourse along the third base line and are open to all fans during each Mariners home
game.

In addition to baseball, Safeco Field has hosted such varied events as U.S. Men’s soccer
matches, Women’s Gold Cup Soccer, the 2001 Seattle Bowl college football game, WWE’s
Wrestle Mania XIX, the WIAA State High School Baseball Championships, Mariners Cup
invitational high school baseball tournaments, numerous graduations, weddings, proms,
trade shows, birthday celebrations and holiday parties.

Over the years, Safeco Field has received numerous honors and appeared on several
Top 10 and “best” lists. The ballpark was one of only two Seattle buildings to be named in
the American Institute of Architects poll of America’s favorite buildings. Opposing players
have named it their second favorite ballpark to play in, behind Wrigley Field (MLB.com
players survey), ESPN.com staff and readers named the ballpark among their Top 10 in
separate surveys, and noted travel guidebook Zagat ranked Safeco Field as one of the top
family attractions in the nation.

Safeco Field has also achieved something fans, public offcials and the Mariners craved
for most of the franchise’s history--stability for Major League Baseball in the Northwest. The
public-private partnership that built the ballpark resulted in a beautiful facility for all to enjoy
and a solid foundation for the Seattle Mariners. On October 1, 2011, the bonds that were
used to fnance construction of Safeco Field were paid off, fve years ahead of schedule.
The Mariners and Washington State Major League Baseball Stadium Public Facilities
District have maintained the ballpark in frst-class condition and are looking forward to
many more years at the “best ballpark in baseball.”
