Ewing Mayor’s Message

March 1, 2009

1. The next Mayor’s meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March18, 2009 @7:00
pm. Subject for March will be Group homes in Ewing, such as 15 Rockleigh
Drive. We have invited representatives from both the group homes and the state.
2. The Township no longer picks up garbage/trash on Township holidays. We
anticipate this will save the Township more then $20,000 over the course of a
3. New contracts for employee bargaining units have been negotiated for seven of
the eight unions.
4. Our web site committee continues working toward a better town web site under
Chairman John LeMasney. The new site is now up and running albeit in a
“draft” mode, comments and suggestions are welcome.
5. The public Works Department has released its Fall leave pick up schedule. It
begins in November and runs through March. Please check the Township web site
and/or the Observer for your schedule. As always mulch and firewood is available
to township residents at certain locations as well.
6. CFO John Barrett has accepted a position with Hamilton Township as their CFO.
Chris Jack has been appointed Acting Municipal Finance Officer. Chris is an
Honors graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Finance.
A Ewing resident since 1969 Chris is also a Ewing High Graduate.
7. All new members of Township Boards and Commissions will be sworn in at their
first meeting of the year. Names of those individuals will be on the Township web
site. I thank all those who have volunteered to serve and make Ewing a great
place to live.
8. A reminder that the Township municipal building is now locked after 11:00 pm
and will not be open except on the lower level where the public will still be able
to access the police department.
9. Congratulations to the following people named to Ewing’s Recreation Honor Roll
for their support of the Township’s Recreation programs: Jeff Burd, Michael
McEntyre, Roger Rada, Dan Reynolds, Mark Smith, the Fasolino Family, Joan
George of Remax, Red Star Pizza and the Bua family and Anthony Nattichia.
