Dedication Speech

Formal ceremonies are usually held during the opening of the building establishment, church, park, bridge, and monuments. During these ceremonies, the speech of dedication gives the facility to the service of God or the welfare of man. The speech of dedication must connect the past with the future and at the same time aim to inspire. The following are the main lines of thought:

1. Give the purpose for which the edifice was constructed - the material need, the symbolic importance. 2. Mention the people who produced it, at what cost, and against what obstacles. 3. Give its tangible use or intangible value. 4. Stir the listeners towards the tasks ahead in relation to the purpose of the dedication.
