as the Oneness Pentecostals would like us to believe.) What does the Bible say about the doctrine of the Trinity? Is God 3 Persons or 1 Person? The Bible teaches us that there is one God, but 3 Persons in the Godhead, namely God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. 3 Persons, but one God. They are not 3 gods like the Mormons teach, NO, they are 3 Persons, but one God. Now how do I get that from Scripture? Let's see… Gen 1:26-27 - When God said: "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…"… with whom did He talk here? He could not have spoken to the angels, because verse 27 says that we are created in the image of God and NOT in the image of the angels. So with whom did God spoke here? The answer is that God the Father talked with His Son, Jesus Christ. The Father and the Son both took part in the creation. Gen 3:22 - Here God talks again about "us". The word "us" is plural. "Us" means more than one. So why did God talked about "us" if the doctrine of the Trinity was not true? Gen 11:5-9 - God said: "let us go down, and there confound their language" The next verse says that the LORD scattered them abroad. So God the Father talked here with His Son, because they are both referred to as LORD in the Scriptures. John 17:11,25 - To whom did the Lord Jesus prayed to here? He did not pray to Himself, but to His Father which is in heaven. He prayed and asked that all the Christians may be one as we are. We as Christians are one! Are we not? One of heart, mind and soul. Yet, we are still different persons, even though we are one of heart, mind and soul. In the same way Jesus and the Father are also one! 1 Tim 2:5 - Why do we need a mediator if God is only one person? Can someone please explain this to me? 1 Cor 8:6 - The doctrine of the Trinity is not in contradiction with any part of the Scriptures. There is ONE GOD, but 3 Persons in the Godhead. Just like a soccer-team consists out of 11 players (persons), yet it is still ONE team. You don't talk about 11 teams??? Mat 3:16-17 - Certain cults like the followers of William Branham believe that God was manifested in the Old Testament as the Father and during the 33 years when Jesus was on earth, God was manifested as the Son and after His ascension God is now manifested to us as the Holy Spirit. BUT in this passage where Jesus was baptized, all 3 Persons of the Trinity appears at the SAME time! When Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit came upon Him from Heaven in the form of a dove and the FATHER spoke to Him out of heaven saying: "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Additionally, the Holy Spirit appears in the Old Testament as well even before Jesus came to this earth! (see Gen 1:2; Judges 14:6 and Psalms 51:11 to name a few). Here are a few more Scriptures where the Father spoke to Jesus from Heaven: Mat 17:5; Mark 1:10-11; John 12:28; 2 Pet 1:16-18. The Scriptures are so clear. I do not need to add any commentary to it. Mat 10:32-33 - Whoever denies me before men, him I will also deny before myself??? Is this what this passage says? No, it does not make sense! He will deny us BEFORE THE FATHER if we deny Him before men. Therefore the Father and the Son cannot be the same person! Mat 5:48 - When Jesus was on earth, where was His Father then? … in heaven! Mat 12:32 - This verse will not make sense if you believe in the teachings of Oneness Pentecostals. (Mk 3:29). Mat 26:39 - Jesus prayed to the Father and said: "nevertheless not as I will, but as you will". See, the Son and the Father each has a will of His own. This proves that they are separate persons. Mat 20:23 - Oneness Pentecostals cannot explain this verse. If you believe that Jesus and the Father is the same person, how could Jesus have said that it is not mine to give, but it shall be
Here Jesus said that He didn't come to do His own will. The Godhead consists of 3 Persons Who are of one Spirit. You cannot give yourself something. John 20:21 . You cannot send yourself. Does it make sense now? Someone may ask: "Now who is going to judge us on Judgment Day? Are all 3 Persons of the Trinity going to sit on 3 thrones to judge the world?". If you believe in the doctrine of the Trinity.Only a person can hear and speak! The Holy Spirit hear things of God and speak of these to us. Read John 5:19-23 (read further until verse 44 and you will see that the Father and the Son is not the same person. to our Father. Yet. but in this verse He clearly states that He did not came of Himself. Phil 2:6-11 (Notice Phil 2:9… did Jesus exalt Himself? No. You can only be sent by someone else.Acts 17:30-31. 21:11. 10:18. The Father and the Son is one in the same way that a man and his wife is one. but the will of the Father. His Father highly exalted him. It is clear then that Jesus and the Father is not the same person. go read it for yourself: John 1:1-2. That is why Jesus said what He said in verse 9 of John 14. Is this not proof enough? John 10:30 (compare with Mat 19:5-6) . Rom 8:34 .Where did Jesus sat? On the right hand of God! He went to sat next to His Father on His throne. These 2 verses makes it so clear! Now back to the Son… Rom 8:11 . No. See. If Jesus and the Father were the same person. the Father sent Him. He is then a Person! (see also Acts 13:2. Meditate on the following verses as well that speaks of Jesus sitting on the right hand of God: Mat 22:44. The Holy Spirit testify of Jesus! John 16:13-14 . the Father gave Him all power. They say that the Holy Spirit is only God's 'active force'. 12:44-45 John 8:42 . Rev 3:12 .Again.Did Jesus came of Himself or did the Father sent Him? If Jesus and the Father was the same person.Jesus referred to His Father as His God. Jesus is the express image of his person and the image of the invisible God. then He did came of Himself. 13:3.The Holy Spirit is God in the same way that Jesus is also God. This passage will not make sense if you believe in the errors of Oneness Pentecostals). then your argument also collapses. and gave him a name which is above every name). then He spoke in circles in this verse.2 given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father? It doesn't make sense. (see 1 Cor 6:16-17).Who gave Jesus all power in heaven and in earth? Himself? Did He give Himself this power? No. Is it clear now? Thus far we have only spoken of the Father and the Son… now let's talk about the Holy Spirit… John 15:23-26 . The man cleave to his wife and they are no more two.Someone may ask: "Now why did Jesus say in verse 9 that he who has seen me has seen the Father?" "Doesn't this mean that they are the same person?". but his that sent me. John 14:6-12 . but a person can. The answer to this question can be found in Heb 1:3 and Col 1:15. BUT the Bible refer to the Holy Spirit as a "HE" in verse 26! He is a Person then and not an impersonal power! A power cannot testify. Rev 1:1. Meditate on the following examples of where the Father gave Jesus things: Mat 11:27. Only someone else can give you something. 6:57. Gal 4:6) Acts 5:3-4 . but one flesh. Now please read John 20:17. 2:26-27. because you must be more than one person to be someone else's right hand. The Jehovah's Witnesses (I like to refer to them as Russellites) deny the personality of the Holy Spirit and they also deny His deity. they are still two separate persons! The same goes for the Godhead." The following verses are so clear. This verse is a favorite with people that deny the Trinity. Jesus did not sent Himself. the Bible says that we will be judged by Jesus Christ! The Father committed all judgment unto the Son. Acts 7:55-56.Jesus Christ intercedes for us. 8:54. Mat 28:17-20 .Who raised Christ from the dead? Did Jesus raise Himself from the dead or did the Father raise Him from the dead??? (See also Gal 1:1) .Did Jesus send Himself or was He sent by the Father? If you say that Jesus and the Father is the same person. Rom 2:16. (See Rev 3:21) If you say that this means that Jesus was only His Father's right hand. John 7:16-18 . then it doesn't make sense when Jesus said: "My doctrine is not mine. John 6:38 . John 3:35. Mk 16:19 . To whom? To Himself? No.18. then you can explain this verse easily without any trouble at all. like the Oneness Pentecostals.
for our salvation. the same identity and the same Name.People that deny the Trinity 'has made God a liar'! This is how serious it is!!! People that fight against the Trinity are fighting against God!
