Taking ownership: Lorias in

We deserve some answers, Mr. Owner
The answers that most matter the ones that shape the Marlins baseball future, and hint at whether they even have one of those were nowhere to be heard on Tuesday. Three days before spring training unfurls (whats the rush?), the team picked up a new owner, president, general manager and field manager all in one fell swoop. And the new regime inherits a rising team with a pitching staff of exciting young arms. At last, then, everything seems in place now except the following: A new stadium.

SALT LAKE CITY Timothy Goebel of the United States matched Alexei Yagudin in a battle of quadruple jumps Tuesday night in the short program of the Olympic mens figure skating competition. But he couldnt overtake the Russian or secondplace Takeshi Honda of Japan with the remainder of his routine. Going into Thursdays long program, Goebel, 21, is in position to grab the silver medal from Honda and maybe hope for more if both skaters ahead of him slip up. At worst, the bronze medal is his to lose. I was thrilled with my program, Goebel said. It was the

SNOWBASIN, Utah Picabo Street was just as ecstatic to finish her career as she was to finish the downhill race Tuesday. With memories of her horrific crashes in the back of her mind, Street considered her 16th-place run a victory of sorts, even though she did not complete her era as the United States most recognizable and most rehabbed skier with a third Olympic medal. Im relieved to be done and to be safe, Street said. It was worth it to come back from all the injuries. My dream and goal was to make it back. Street, beloved for her all-out, 75mph style of racing and expression,

was the sentimental favorite at Snowbasin. But the surprise winner, Carole Montillet of France, overcame her own fears in the Winter Olympics most perilous event just four months after teammate Regine Cavagnoud died in a training crash. The race, delayed one day, then 2 hours 10 minutes by high winds near the top of Mt. Allen, had the feel of a going-away party for Street. Fans waved red, white and blue We love you, Picabo signs as she zoomed down the Wildflower course in her missile tuck, wearing a helmet adorned with a bald eagle, the Statue of Liberty and F-16 fighter jets. Once her last hurrah was over,

ITS OVER: Picabo Street tries to catch her breath following her run in the womens downhill Tuesday.

PARK CITY, Utah Jonny Moseley, determined to test the boundaries of his sport, served up his innovative Dinner Roll trick in the mens Olympic moguls final on a glorious Tuesday, even though he figured it would hurt his medal chances, which it did. He would wind up in fourth place, bumped off the podium by U.S. teammate and silver-medalist Travis Mayer, a 4.0 food-science major at Cornell University. Janne Lahtela of Finland won gold, and Richard Gay of France took bronze.
