To write the literature review, follow these steps: 1.

Analyse the topic

o What exactly are you being asked to do?
2. Locate appropriate published research on the topic

o Be very careful about using material you have located on the Internet
3. Read and understand the research you have located 4. Summarise the research 5. Analyse the research

o What methods have been used? o What findings have been reported? o What common strands are there? o What differences are there? o What are the strengths and weaknesses of the research? o How convincing is the research? o What further research may be needed?
6. Decide on an organisation for your analysis. For example:

o General to specific o Chronological (oldest to most recent) o Methodological o Other
7. Write your first draft 8.
