Rolling Mills of ArcelorMittal Ostrava a.s. are a
traditional producer of long products in the Czech
republic. Long products mainly for constructions
and structures, are produced at two Sections Rol-
ling Mill, and one Continuous Wire Rod Mill. The
Heavy Section Mill produces heavy and medium
section steel, from the simple sections, trough the
shaped bars, special section bars and I, IPE and U
bars, up to the size of 220 mm.

The continuous Wire-Rod Mill produces hot rolled
stell wire rod, and reinforcing bars of small
diameters. The medium Section Mill which was
put in operation in the year 1981 produces
a variety assortment of hot rolled long products:
fine and medium sections of basics shapes, ribbed
reinforcing bars, I, IPE bars up to 140 mm size, U
bars up to 120 mm size and some special profiles.

Technical delivery possibilities
Sections and reinforcing steel bars
Straightening of profiles – is performed by nine-roll straightener S.I.M.A.C. on Heavy Section Mill
– is performed by nine-roll straightener M&N on Medium Section Mill
Dividing of profiles – is performed on Heavy Section Mill by cutting either in hot or cold conditions to following lengths:
round bars – production – 3 ÷ 8 m
under 3 m
– exact – 5, 6, 7, 8 m ±100 mm (+100; -0)
shaped bars – production – 8 ÷ 12 m
5 ÷ 8 m
under 5 m
– exact – 6, 12, 14 and 15 m ±100 mm (+100; -0)
– is performed on Medium Section Mill by cutting on cold, shape bars are cutting by profile shears in lengths:
round and flat bars – production – 6 ÷ 12 m
3 ÷ 6 m
under 3 m

– It is possible to supply the ribbed reinforcing bars from the Continuous Wire-Rod Mill
upon agreement with the following lengths:
– 6 to 10 m (graded in length of 1 m with length tolerances ±100 mm,
or also 12 m as the case may be)

Weight and weight deviations – according to the corresponding standards
Bundling and marking of bundles – in general:
Rolled material is put in bundles of weight up to 5 t, which are tied with wire. In case of section bars deliveries from the Heavy Section Rolling Mill at three points at
minimum. Larger number of ties is possible by agreement with the operating division. Deliveries from the Medium Section Mill are tied at 3 points. Larger number of
ties from the Medium Section Mill is possible upon agreement. Bundles are marked with descriptions directly on rods, or are marked with labels with the required sign.
Weight of bundles of reinforcing bars from the Continuous Wire-Rod Mill is 3,5 t at maximum. They are tied at 4 points with the binding wire by double tie.
Way of bundling and marking of bundles upon agreement with Export Department.
Way of placing an orders – according to the corresponding standards, or upon agreement, as the case may be
Way of deliveries – according to the corresponding standards, or upon agreement
Wire rod and ribbed reinforcing steel bars
Wire rod and ribbed reinforcing bars from the Continuous Wire Rod Mill are delivered in coils.
Weight of coil is about 1 200 kg
Coil dimensions are: – outside diameter approximately 1 200 mm
– inside diameter approximately 850 mm
Single coils are tied at 2 points with the binding wire.
For export, the coils are tied by two (or 3) pieces in bundles with the binding wire at 4 points.
